Are you an Engineer or technically minded professional looking to build a career in explosives, blasting and specialist engineering?
We are working with an established organisation operating within the explosives and blasting sector, who are looking to appoint an Engineer – Explosives \& Blasting to support operations across the North of England.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a technical or scientific background and practical experience in environments such as quarrying, mining, demolition, geology, construction or the military, who is looking to develop their expertise within a highly specialised industry.
The Role
Working as part of a specialist engineering team, you will provide technical and engineering support across a range of blasting and explosives\-related activities.
The role will involve a combination of site\-based work, data analysis, equipment maintenance, surveying and customer support, with full training and development provided where required.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing technical and engineering support to internal and external customers.
- Supporting blasting and engineering projects across sites throughout the North of England.
- Undertaking site surveys and collecting technical data.
- Supporting blast performance and fragmentation analysis.
- Using monitoring equipment to measure and analyse blasting performance, including vibration monitoring.
- Maintaining, calibrating and checking specialist engineering and blasting equipment.
- Supporting project and blast consultancy activities.
- Analysing technical data and producing reports and recommendations.
- Supporting the development and improvement of engineering processes, procedures and technologies.
- Working closely with customers and operational teams to understand requirements and deliver effective technical solutions.
- Supporting the delivery of technical training and industry seminars where required.
- Ensuring all activities are carried out safely and in accordance with company procedures and relevant legislation.
- Maintaining and developing your technical knowledge across explosives, blasting and associated engineering technologies.
We are particularly interested in hearing from candidates with a degree, HNC/HND or equivalent technical qualification in a relevant discipline such as:
- Engineering
- Chemical Manufacturing / Chemical Engineering
- Mining
- Geology
- Quarrying
- Applied Science
- Or another relevant technical/scientific discipline
We are keen to speak with people who have gained practical experience within environments such as quarries, mines, demolition, construction, heavy industry or the military, and who are now looking to develop into a specialist explosives and blasting engineering position.
You will ideally have:
- Practical experience working in a technical, engineering or high\-risk operational environment.
- A strong understanding of health, safety and risk management.
- Good analytical and problem\-solving skills.
- Strong IT and data\-handling skills.
- The ability to work confidently both independently and as part of a specialist team.
- Good communication skills and the confidence to deal with customers and operational personnel.
- A willingness to travel regularly to sites across the North of England.
- A full UK driving licence.
