Employee Relations Advisor
About The Role
Reporting to the HR Business Partner for the Midlands, you will be the first point of contact for Line Managers, responsible for the provision of a professional, commercially focused and legally compliant HR advisory service across Integrated Urgent Care (IUC).
You will provide support to our HR Business Partner team across IUC, managing a caseload of employee relations activity with a predominant focus on sickness absence. In addition, you will coach and support our line managers to develop line management capability in key areas of employee relations, such as conduct, capability, management of absence and resolution of grievances.
There may also be the opportunity to support projects for the Business Partnering team such as TUPE transfers in/out, well being and management development initiatives, contributing to the delivery of our strategic HR plans within IUC.
This is a 6\-month Fixed Term Contract with a potential to be made permanent. Working remotely with some expectation for occasional travel to site when required. Part time role for 2\.5 days a week across Mondays and Wednesdays with flexibility on the half day.
What you'll be doing
Employee relations support — Provide expert ER advice to managers across sites (including 111\), with a strong focus on effective sickness absence management.
Absence analytics — Analyse sickness trends, produce insight\-led recommendations, and drive actions that reduce absence levels.
Case management coaching — Deliver on‑site and virtual coaching to line managers on ER cases including absence reviews, disciplinary and grievance processes, and performance capability.
Policy development — Support HR Business Partners in reviewing and developing HR policies, ensuring legal compliance and best practice.
Wellbeing advocacy — Promote and facilitate engagement with wellbeing services such as EAP and Occupational Health across primary care.
Collaborative HR partnership — Build strong relationships with IUC managers and HR colleagues, contributing to HR projects and delivering a credible, value‑adding HR service.
What we’ll look for in you
Strong background in managing complex sickness absence cases with a proven record of improving attendance.
CIPD Level 3 or above, with solid experience operating within an HR function and engaging diverse stakeholders.
Skilled in managing varied ER caseloads, applying UK employment law, and delivering clear, accurate advice.
Strong analytical ability to interpret information, identify risks, and shape sound, commercially aware solutions.
Creative thinker with the ability to prioritise, adapt quickly to change, and resolve people challenges effectively.
Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills, with a team‑oriented approach and strong relationship‑building capability.
