Positive Employment is currently recruiting for an Employee Engagement Officer for our client, a local government organisation based in Kensington, London.

The successful post holder will manage and deliver a varied portfolio of employee engagement projects aligned to the organisation's People Strategy and wider corporate priorities. The role will create engaging content across a range of staff communication channels, build strong relationships with employee networks and stakeholders, and use feedback and analysis to improve HR initiatives.

This is a temporary contract for an initial 3 months, with the possibility of extension. Hybrid working is available.

Duties and Responsibilities but not limited to:

  • Lead allocated employee engagement projects and activities aligned to the People Strategy and corporate priorities.

  • Develop and deliver staff engagement initiatives, events and campaigns, including health and wellbeing, EDI and organisational activities.

  • Create engaging and accessible content across staff networks, briefings, conferences, events and digital channels.

  • Build strong, two-way relationships with employee networks, key contacts and influencers.

  • Respond to staff feedback and emerging themes, sharing insights with relevant HR teams to inform priorities and initiatives.

  • Monitor and analyse engagement activity, including interaction, sentiment and key themes, producing reports to support evidence-based decision making.

  • Maintain an up-to-date calendar of engagement campaigns and activities, identifying opportunities, gaps and potential clashes.

  • Work with Communications and Design teams to develop newsletters, online content, infographics and other engagement materials.

  • Prepare concise and accessible reports for HR senior leadership and management groups.

  • Ensure employee engagement activity supports the organisation's equality, diversity and inclusion objectives and complies with relevant organisational policies and data protection requirements.

Personal Requirements:
  • CIPD Level 5 qualification or above, or equivalent knowledge and experience.

  • Experience delivering employee engagement projects, internal communications or similar initiatives and demonstrating their impact.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects from initiation through to completion.

  • Experience designing engagement activities aligned to strategic people and organisational objectives.

  • Experience using a range of communication channels to engage broad and targeted workforce groups.

  • Strong content creation skills, including written and digital content.

  • Experience working within an HR environment, with a good understanding of HR functions and priorities.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and engagingly.

  • Strong organisational, analytical and project management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.

  • Excellent interpersonal and networking skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with employees, networks and stakeholders.

  • Good understanding of employee engagement methods and the challenges facing the public sector workforce.

  • Experience working within a large, complex or politically sensitive organisation would be desirable.

Working Hours: 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Pay: £31.56 per hour

Please note this role is within the scope of IR35.
