Employability Mentor

At Access Ability, we provide specialist support for young adults with Autism and learning disabilities.

We are looking for someone who has experience of support work and is committed to preparing our young adults for work. Within the role you will be supporting our young adults within employability sessions, immersive workshops and providing 1:1 support within work experience and employment.

As part of this role, you will join a small specialist team, dedicated to providing activities that expand experiences, raise aspirations and build skills.

As an Employability Mentor, you will make a real difference our young adults' lives and independence skills. We are looking for people to join our specialist disability team, who are committed, professional and enthusiastic.

What will I be doing?

Provide personalised coaching and mentoring to individuals, focusing on employability skills, workplace integration and employment goals

Support our young people with preparation for work placements.

Provide 1:1 support within employment placements and paid work.

Help individuals prepare for job interviews, develop CV’s and research potential job opportunities.

Work with employers to promote understanding of disability and develop strategies for creating inclusive work environments

Provide ongoing support once they have secured employment.

Support in the implementation of in\-work key tasks and routines.

Work alongside the employability team to ensure that information regarding young adults’ needs and progress are shared.

Maintaining records and updating risk assessments.

Supporting the young person to follow workplace policies and procedures.

Ensure alignment with the organisation's ethos and guidelines.

Promote professional support practices.

What skills and qualities do I need to have?

Whilst knowledge of Autism and learning disabilities would be beneficial, it isn’t essential. What is essential is that you are:

Professional, committed, caring and enthusiastic.

Have excellent communication skills.

Proactive and a positive role model to our young people.

A great team player.

Having a driving license is essential.
