Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to become a Senior Clinical Emergency Nurse Practitioner (ENP) within the Minor Injuries Unit (MIU) at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. We are looking to recruit one Senior ENP to lead our minor injuries service. The MIU is located at both the Leeds General Infirmary and St James University Hospital within the Emergency Department

The post holder will be practicing as an independent specialist clinical practitioner providing patient centred and evidence based clinical care within an agreed scope of practice. The job holder is responsible for the management of a defined caseload. The jobholder carries continuing responsibility for the assessment of care needs, the development, implementation and evaluations of care and the setting of standards of care.

The job holder will provide specialist nursing care, treatment and advice to a specific patient group and will contribute to the development of the speciality service. The jobholder will support the effective use of resources and the development of interdisciplinary and whole service working. as a role model they will promote the sharing of good practice and delivery of high quality effective and efficient care. The job holder will provide training and education to staff groups patients and families/carers. The post holder will work in partnership with the multidisciplinary team to implement and improve the patient pathway and will be expected to develop new skills to further enhance the quality of the service delivered. Where appropriate the role will include day to day leadership and management.

We are looking for someone who can help shape and develop the service, drive standards and quality care with passion and pace. There is an opportunity to extend your clinical skills in reducing shoulder dislocations and wrist fracture's if not already competent.

As a senior ENP it is expected that you will have undertaken a recognised Minor injury course, have a recognised Teaching and assessing qualification, have undertaken IRMER training and be competent to independently interpret x\-rays.

What you will bring to the role

Provide high quality care as an expert practitioner and act as a role model and resource for advice, support and guidance

Provides specialised advice contributing to the diagnosis and care of patients

Responsible for ensuring the setting of and monitoring of standards as well as seeking continuous opportunity to improve standards and the quality of patient care

Undertake clinical procedures where dexterity and accuracy are required

Make clinical assessments and treatment decisions within clearly defined policies and protocols

Organise own clinical workload

Supervise clinical staff to promote the delivery of excellent clinical standards

Ensure that documentation standards are maintained in accordance with NMC and LTHT guidelines, whether written or computerised

Promote and maintain positive working relationships between all staff, internal and external to the Trust involved in the care of patients
