About the Role
Do you have a passion for building and repairing high\-precision electronic equipment? GeoMagna is seeking a skilled Electronics Production and Repair Engineer to join the manufacturing team at our UK headquarters in Blandford Forum.
We are looking for a hands\-on engineer who has a passion for building and repairing highly complex electronic systems and who doesn't just leave the electronics at the office. If you spent your youth taking things apart to see how they work and your perfect weekend involves a soldering iron and a new home project, you will fit right in here.
In this role, you will be responsible for building, wiring and repairing assemblies for our specialised range of offshore electronic products. Working closely with our design team, you will ensure our high\-tech equipment is built to survive harsh marine environments.
*Note: While our products operate in the offshore seismic and marine survey sector, we know this is a unique industry for North Dorset. We are fully committed to providing specific product training for a skilled technician or engineer with a strong electronics background.*
Key Responsibilities
The Key Responsibilities for the role of Electronics Production and Repair Engineer are:
- Assembly \& Repair: Manufacture, solder, assemble and repair complex electronic components and sub\-systems.
- Quality Assurance: Read technical schematics and use precision measurement tools to inspect components, ensuring they meet tight tolerances.
- Supplier Liaison: Work closely with external suppliers to ensure third\-party supplied parts meet our exact engineering specifications.
- Continuous Improvement: Support the evolution of manufacturing processes and fixtures to improve build efficiency and product reliability.
We recognize this position requires a diverse skill set. If you lack experience but have a strong interest in electronics and have a high aptitude to learn, please still apply. We hire for attitude and train for gaps.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years in a hands\-on manufacturing, assembly, prototyping or repair environment or a history of building personal electronics projects, amateur radio, robotics or home automation tinkering. We highly value the problem\-solving skills developed through personal builds!
- Core Technical Skills: Proficient in electronic soldering, wiring and reading electronic schematics. Ability to configure software, set up systems and handle network integration.
- Industry Bonus: Prior experience with offshore seismic, marine survey or subsea equipment is a significant advantage, but not essential.
- Attributes: Exceptional attention to detail, tight\-tolerance precision and the ability to problem\-solve independently within a small, collaborative team.
- Skills Bonus: The ability to program and operate workshop machinery, including CNC machines, 3D printers and traditional hand/machine tools would be an advantage.
