Electrical Design Engineer (Power Generation / Commercial)

Are you an Electrical Design Engineer looking to join a well-established manufacturer and take ownership of electrical design projects from concept through to manufacture, testing and site support?

Established in the 1980s, this specialist engineering company designs, manufactures and supplies bespoke acoustic enclosures, canopies and noise-control solutions for power generation and industrial equipment. The company works with OEMs, EPC contractors and end clients across power generation, oil & gas, marine and industrial sectors, delivering both standard and fully engineered electrical and control packages.

In this role, you will be responsible for the electrical design of enclosures, control panels and associated packages, working closely with Engineering, Production, Procurement and Quality teams. You will produce electrical drawings and schematics, specify components and cables, complete calculations, interpret customer specifications and provide technical support through panel build, FAT, commissioning and occasional site visits.

This role would suit an Electrical Design Engineer with experience within industrial, power generation, marine, oil & gas or similar environments, looking to take ownership of technically varied projects and work across the full design and manufacturing lifecycle.

The Role:
· Produce electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts and cable schedules
· Design electrical systems for control panels, generator enclosures and associated equipment
· Specify cables, protection devices and electrical components
· Complete cable and lighting calculations using Amtech, Dialux or similar
· Design containment, cable entry, gland plates and termination arrangements
· Interpret customer specifications, electrical design basis and hazardous area documentation
· Ensure designs meet relevant BS and IEC standards, including BS 7671
· Work with Production, Procurement, Quality and Mechanical Engineering to ensure designs are practical and manufacturable
· Provide technical support during panel build, FAT, commissioning and fault finding
· Liaise with customers, suppliers and consultants on technical queries and design changes

The Person:
· Experience in electrical design within industrial, power generation, marine, oil & gas or similar
· Experience with AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN or similar
· Full UK driving licence
