Role Overview
We are looking for an ambitious and commercially minded Ecommerce Manager to lead the continued development and growth of our B2B ecommerce platform within a fast\-paced electrical wholesale business.
This is a hands on role suited to someone who combines strategic thinking with practical execution. The successful candidate will take ownership of driving our ecommerce platform forward improving customer experience, increasing digital adoption, supporting branch engagement, and identifying new opportunities to grow online sales and customer value.
This role sits within a lean and agile team, meaning the Ecommerce Manager will be closely involved in both strategic initiatives and day\-to\-day operational activity.
The role requires someone who is proactive, commercially aware, customer\-focused, and enthusiastic about emerging ecommerce technologies and digital trends. The ideal candidate will either bring strong ecommerce experience or demonstrate a genuine passion and capability to develop specialist knowledge in B2B ecommerce strategy, customer behaviour, and digital growth.
Key Responsibilities
Ecommerce Strategy \& Platform Development
- Lead the ongoing development and optimisation of the company's B2B ecommerce platform and mobile app.
- Identify opportunities to improve customer experience, conversion, engagement, and digital sales performance.
- Research and evaluate emerging ecommerce technologies, trends, and digital tools relevant to B2B trade customers.
- Work with internal stakeholders and external partners to implement new platform functionality and enhancements.
- Contribute to the long\-term digital roadmap and ecommerce growth strategy.
- Gather feedback from customers, branches, and internal users to identify pain points and improvement opportunities.
- Support and promote customer adoption of digital ordering platforms.
- Attend customer meetings, demonstrations, and presentations to showcase ecommerce capabilities and encourage usage.
- Act as a key point of contact for branches regarding ecommerce\-related queries, issues, and feedback.
- Build strong relationships across the branch network to increase platform awareness and engagement.
- Support training and onboarding of branch teams on ecommerce tools and functionality.
- Lead, support, and develop the ecommerce team to ensure the successful day\-to\-day operation and ongoing growth of the ecommerce platform.
- Manage and prioritise workloads across the ecommerce function, ensuring tasks and projects are delivered effectively.
- Ensure product content, categorisation, pricing, and data quality are maintained.
- Monitor website performance, product availability, and customer usability.
- Assist in testing new features, platform updates, and integrations.
- Monitor key ecommerce KPIs including traffic, conversion, online sales, customer engagement, and app adoption.
- Produce performance reports and recommendations for improvement.
Essential
- Experience working within ecommerce, digital commerce, or online customer platforms.
- Strong commercial awareness and customer\-focused mindset.
- Excellent communication and relationship\-building skills.
- Comfortable dealing directly with customers, branches, and stakeholders at all levels.
- Organised and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast\-paced environment.
- Problem\-solving mindset with the ability to take ownership of issues.
- Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands\-on operational involvement.
- Experience within B2B ecommerce or wholesale/distribution environments.
- Knowledge of ecommerce platforms, PIM systems, ERP integrations, or digital product management.
- Experience with ecommerce analytics tools such as Google Analytics, Power BI, or similar.
- Understanding of SEO, merchandising, UX, and digital marketing principles.
- Experience working with mobile apps and customer\-facing digital tools.
- Electrical wholesale or trade industry knowledge.
