Job Summary:
As a Duty Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth and professional day\-to\-day operation of of the club. With a strong focus on delivering exceptional customer service and enhancing the overall member experience, you will lead by example in a fast\-paced, hospitality\-driven environment.
This is a highly visible, member\-facing role where your ability to build rapport and exceed expectations will be key to maintaining the high standards our members expect. You will oversee all areas of the club, supporting departments including front\-of\-house, fitness, racquets, and food and beverage, ensuring seamless coordination and an outstanding atmosphere throughout.
This role is ideal for someone with proven experience in hospitality or leisure management, who thrives on delivering exceptional service and enhancing the overall member experience within a welcoming, high\-quality environment. As a Duty Manager, you will also be First Aid trained and confident in responding to incidents professionally and efficiently, helping to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all members, guests, and staff.
This is a full\-time role working on a rolling rota across seven days, including weekends and Bank Holidays. Candidates must be flexible and available to work a variety of shift patterns, including early starts and late finishes. Shift patterns:
- Monday–Friday: 06:00–14:30 or 14:30–23:00
- Saturday: 07:00–15:00 or 14:30–22:30
- Sunday: 07:00–15:00 or 13:00–21:00
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strong day\-to\-day leadership, supporting the Lead Duty Manager and wider Duty Management team to ensure seamless club operations.
- Set, monitor, and ensure completion of daily and weekly operational objectives, maintaining the club’s premium service and presentation standards.
- Supervise all areas of the club during shifts, ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures, club byelaws, and health \& safety policies.
- Work closely with the Head of Operations and Lead Duty Manager to maintain a safe, welcoming, and high\-performing environment.
- Deliver a consistent, friendly, and personalised service to all members, guests, and visitors during every interaction.
- Actively promote a member\-first culture, ensuring all team members contribute to an exceptional and enjoyable club experience.
- Communicate club policies, pool rules, and safety regulations clearly and professionally to members to foster a safe and respectful environment.
- Proven experience in managing leisure or hospitality facilities, ideally within a premium, member\-focused environment.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, manage, and develop a team in a fast\-paced operational setting.
- Strong understanding of customer service principles, with a track record of enhancing member experience and resolving complaints effectively and professionally.
- First Aid at Work certification (essential), with confidence in responding to medical incidents, including AED use.
- A recognised qualification in Leisure Management, Health \& Safety, or a related field.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage confidently with members, guests, and colleagues.
- High attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
