Domestic Plumber & Gas Engineer - Subcontractor

Boilers down, taps dripping, rads stone cold — reactive jobs that need a proper engineer who fixes it first time. Everything else? Our problem.

We've been doing this since 1906\. We know the trade, we know what good engineers want, and we know what they don't — which is everything that isn't actually doing the job.

This is a reactive role — wet side and gas side, equal weighting. Customers ringing because something's gone wrong, and they want it sorted today, properly, by someone who knows what they're looking at. Diagnose it, fix it, gone.

We're a work provider. You bring the spanners, knowledge and skills, the Gas Safe card, and the diagnostic brain. We bring the customers, the materials, the schedule, the paid deposits, and the back\-office grunt work.

What you'll do

• Reactive plumbing call\-outs — leaks, burst pipes, blockages, failed valves, dripping taps, dodgy WCs and cisterns


• Boiler breakdowns, servicing, and fault\-finding


• Diagnose quickly, fix on the spot — first\-time fix is the goal on every job


• Heating system repairs, power flushes, controls, TRVs, motorised valves


• Rad swaps, cylinder work (unvented), pump and pressure issues


• Copper, plastic, soldered, push\-fit — all of it, done properly


• Gas fault\-finding — the bit you actually enjoy


• Providing solutions without the handholding


• Be polite, presentable, and reasonably human with the homeowner

• Customer phone calls and quoting


• Material ordering and delivery


• Deposits and invoicing


• Marketing and lead generation


• Diary management and route planning


• The customer who emails at 9pm asking why the boiler is "making a noise"

• Gas Safe registered — (preferable)


• NVQ Level 2 or 3 Plumbing \& Heating


• Unvented ticket (preferred)


• Equally strong on the plumbing side AND the gas side — this isn't a boiler\-only role


• 5\+ years on the tools across both disciplines


• Sharp diagnostic brain — engineers who spot the issue fast and sort it on the first visit


• Your own van and proper tooling — plumbing kit, gas analyser, the lot


• Clean appearance and a decent manner with customers
