Role Purpose:
As the distribution manager you will lead and manage the brewery’s transport operations and distribution site ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant distribution of products. The role is responsible for stock control, fleet management, driver performance, route optimisation, and delivering high service standards to customers while maintaining legal and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the end\-to\-end transport operation from the brewery site, through our distribution centre, into both customer’s depots and directly to pubs by utilising our own primary and dray fleet.
- Lead, manage, and develop a team of draymen, promoting safe working practices and high performance.
- Ensure safe manual handling of casks and kegs, embedding a strong health \& safety culture.
- Maintain compliance with transport legislation, including driver hours, tachographs, and vehicle safety.
- Plan and optimise multi\-drop delivery routes, considering access restrictions and delivery conditions.
- Manage fleet operations, including vehicle availability, maintenance, and cleanliness.
- Monitor and control transport costs, including fuel usage and vehicle efficiency.
- Work closely with the brewery and warehouse teams to ensure stock availability and accurate loading.
- Investigating incidents, accidents, and customer complaints, implementing corrective actions.
- Ensure high standards of customer service are consistently delivered by the dray team.
- Drive continuous improvement across dray operations, including efficiency and safety initiatives.
We would like someone who:
Essential:
- Proven experience in transport/logistics management, ideally in multi\-drop delivery.
- Strong understanding of UK transport compliance and legislation.
- Experience managing teams in a physically demanding operational environment.
- Knowledge of health \& safety requirements, particularly manual handling.
- Hold current Transport Manager CPC ( Certificate of Professional Competence ) in UK Road Haulage.
- Experience within a brewery or drinks distribution environment.
- Understanding of cask and keg handling and cellar operations.
- Experience managing drays or similar heavy delivery operations.
- Health \& Safety qualification (e.g. IOSH/NEBOSH).
- Have experience of managing an Operator’s Licence.
- Have previous HGV driving experience.

Pay: £65,000\.00\-£75,000\.00 per year
