Dispatch & Distribution Supervisor (Night Shift)

Job Purpose

The Dispatch \& Distribution Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and managing all night shift warehouse, dispatch, and distribution operations. This role ensures the efficient picking, packing, loading, and dispatch of customer orders while supervising warehouse staff and drivers to ensure all deliveries are prepared accurately and leave on schedule.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate all night shift warehouse, dispatch, and distribution activities.


• Manage all picking and packing operations to ensure customer orders are completed accurately and on time.


• Oversee the loading and dispatch process to ensure goods are prepared and delivered according to schedules.


• Supervise warehouse staff and delivery drivers throughout the shift.


• Ensure drivers report to work on time and manage attendance issues where necessary.


• Ensure drivers load the correct goods onto their vehicles before departure.


• Verify that all delivery paperwork and vehicle loading requirements are completed accurately.


• Coordinate loading schedules and dispatch activities to maximise operational efficiency.


• Monitor delivery schedules and ensure vehicles leave on time.


• Allocate work effectively and monitor team performance against operational targets.


• Investigate and report stock discrepancies, damaged goods, shortages, or delivery issues.


• Ensure effective communication between warehouse staff, drivers, and management.


• Conduct shift handovers and provide operational updates and reports.


• Maintain high standards of housekeeping, organisation, and health and safety compliance.


• Support staff training and promote a positive and productive working environment.


• Resolve operational issues efficiently during the night shift.

• Previous supervisory experience within logistics, warehouse, dispatch, or distribution operations.


• Experience managing dispatch activities, driver coordination, and warehouse operations.


• Strong leadership and people management skills.


• Excellent organisational and time management abilities.


• Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.


• Good communication and problem\-solving skills.


• Experience using warehouse or transport management systems would be beneficial.
