Director of FMCG Buying

About The Role

Join us here at Poundland \& Dealz as our Director of FMCG Buying, based at our Walsall office working in a hybrid pattern of circa 3 days onsite however this role will include regular travel to ROI also. In this role you'll lead a talented buying team of 21 inc 6 direct reports across food and non food FMCG, with these categories making up over 60% of our sales. Most of the team is based at our Walsall office but we've also got a small team focussed on our Dealz products based in Clonee, Ireland which is where the travel to ROI will come in.

With autonomy and trust to make an impact from day one, you’ll take a coaching approach to support your team in driving their ranges in the right direction, making quick decisions based on your experience as a trader, to chase the deals/products that our customers will want, we don't sit and wait. You'll need to have come from an FMCG background, knowing the supplier base but also having worked in grey market buying, with an analytical mindset to use the data available to manage risk, take opportunities and balance current with future needs. There will be no surprise that multi tasking is key, as being a retailer we move at pace, but keeping calm, measured and not reacting on impulse will serve this role best.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an FMCG buying leader to build on the the work and progress already made in FMCG and continue to drive that performance forward. Reporting into the Commercial Director and working along side our GM and Clothing Directors, together you'll bring the right products to our stores for our customers, who know we'll always bring them great value.
