We are looking for a Digital Learning Developer Apprentice to join our Digital Learning team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is creative, curious about technology, and passionate about digital media, learning, or design.
You do not need to be an expert before you start. If you enjoy creating content, exploring digital tools, and learning new skills, we will support and train you to develop into a confident digital learning professional.
Reporting to the Senior Digital Learning Developer, you will help design and develop engaging online learning materials for colleagues across the organisation.
About the apprenticeship
This role is open to graduates who do not hold, and are not working towards, an equivalent or higher qualification in Digital Learning Designer.
Depending on your current qualifications, you will complete the Level 5 Digital Learning Designer apprenticeship. It is a 24\-month apprenticeship. The qualification requirements are below:
Throughout your apprenticeship, you will develop valuable skills and knowledge for a wide range of workplace tasks. You will have a dedicated tutor to guide you, with one\-to\-one sessions every six to eight weeks. You will apply what you learn in real work situations, creating a practical portfolio of tools and techniques you can use on the job.
As part of the apprenticeship, you will complete a minimum of 6 hours of off‑the‑job learning each week.
If you're aged 1618:
- If you havent passed GCSEs (grade 4/C or above) youll get support to improve your English and Maths.
- This is built into your apprenticeshipat no extra cost, and youll learn at your own pace.
- You dont have to\-do English and Maths to complete your apprenticeship.
- If you want to boost your skills or confidence, you can choose to learn them as part of your training.

- An excellent understanding of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word and an ability to learn new systems quickly. (Essential)
- Experience/knowledge in authoring eLearning using modern software such as Articulate Storyline and experience in supporting Learning Management Systems (LMS) or Content Management Systems (CMS). (Desirable)
- Experience/knowledge of developing digital resources including, but not restricted to, producing online surveys, developing materials for a digital platform, video/audio editing. (Desirable)

You must complete and pass the online judgment test before submitting an application. The deadline to complete the assessment is 5:00pm on 17 June 2026\.
The selection panel will assess your application based on your evidence you have provided against the essential/desirable criteria as set out in the job specification.
You will also be asked to provide information within the Employer/Activity History section of the application form. This information is equivalent to the information you would provide on a CV setting out your career history (this may be used in the sifting process).
Use the STAR model (Situation, Task, Action, Result) to present your evidence.
If we receive a high number of applications, an initial sift will be conducted based on the following lead criterion:
*Experience of delivering high quality work on time, meeting operational targets and objectives, effectively planning workloads, and the ability to make well\-reasoned decisions without reference when appropriate.*
Applicants who meet this initial eligibility criterion will be invited to progress to the next stage of the selection process. Interview
Candidates who pass the benchmark at the shortlist stage will be invited to an interview where you will be assessed against a mixture of the Civil Service behaviours and on the experience skills as detailed in the job specification.
Interviews will be held during the week commencing 13 July 2026 via Microsoft Teams.
