About Us

Plowman Brothers Ltd is a long\-established engineering and manufacturing company specialising in the design, fabrication, machining and assembly of agricultural transport and equipment. Due to continued growth, we are looking to recruit a CAD technician to join the design team.

Overview

The successful candidate will be responsible for producing accurate 2D and 3D CAD drawings (preferably, but not limited to AutoCAD Inventor), supporting product development, and assisting with the continuous improvement of existing products and manufacturing processes. The role would suit either an experienced design engineer or a capable CAD technician looking to develop their career within a practical manufacturing environment.

We are looking for a candidate who: shows a willingness to learn new skills; contributes and will speak up if they see areas for improvement within our organisation; wants ownership of their involvement in a project and will be excited to see products through from the design stage to customer handover.

Responsibilities:

• Produce detailed 2D and 3D CAD models and manufacturing drawings.


• Create and maintain engineering documentation, bills of materials, and technical specifications.


• Support the design and development of new products and modifications to existing livestock trailers and agricultural equipment.


• Work closely with production, workshop, and assembly teams to ensure designs are practical and manufacturable.


• Assist in resolving design and manufacturing issues.


• Ensure drawings and documentation are accurately controlled and updated.


• Liaise with suppliers and customers when required.


• Ensure all work complies with relevant industry standards and company procedures.

Skills and Experience

• Previous experience in a CAD Design Engineer or CAD Technician role within a manufacturing or engineering environment is preferred but not essential.


• Proficiency in CAD software, or similar packages.


• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.


• Understanding of sheet metal fabrication, welding, and manufacturing processes would be beneficial.


• Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.


• Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues across departments.


• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.


• HNC/HND, degree, apprenticeship, or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Product Design, or a related discipline is desirable.

We don't expect you to have experience with all of the different materials, processes and areas of design that we are involved in, but we are looking for people that will take the chance to gain knowledge and experience when the opportunity arises!

Monday to Friday permanent on site position
