Job summary

Dstl are looking for a Deputy Radiation Protection Supervisor (dRPS), who will play a key role in ensuring the safe management, handling and use of radiation sources within the Range and Trials Coordination (RTC) environment. Working directly with the Radiation Protection Supervisor – Coordinator (RPS‑C), you will help maintain the highest standards of radiation safety and compliance across all RTC activities.

This is a position for someone who enjoys responsibility, precision and contributing to a safe operational environment. You’ll be part of a specialist team supporting critical national‑level work, while developing your own expertise in radiation protection and safety management.

Job description

In this role you ensure a safe and secure system of work within the allocated workplace by fulfilling the key roles and responsibilities of an RPS working within the guidelines of International, National and local Regulations.

You managing radiation doses received when working with radioactive sources, applying As Low As Reasonably Practicable (ALARP) principles.

You will have experience of working within a radiation environment as well as having experience of managing health, safety and environment aspects within a work area.

You will also have experience of hazard management, risk management and risk assessment along with experience of providing advice on health, safety and environmental matters.
