The Role
A new role to support company growth and development has arisen at Permissum.
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Depute Manager to support the Registered Manager in the day\-to\-day leadership and operation of the home.
This is a pivotal leadership role requiring a balance of hands\-on care, staff supervision, and operational oversight. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the home meets and exceeds regulatory standards, delivers outstanding care, and maintains a strong, stable staff team.
The role includes participation in the on\-call rota, providing out\-of\-hours leadership and decision\-making support to ensure the safe and effective running of the service at all times.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership \& Management
- Support the Registered Manager in the effective running of the home in line with Care Inspectorate standards and regulatory requirements
- Act as the lead in the Manager’s absence, ensuring continuity of leadership and decision\-making
- Lead, motivate, and develop the staff team to deliver consistent, high\-quality care
- Promote a positive, accountable, and high\-performing team culture
- Provide regular supervision, guidance, and performance management to staff
- Support staff training, development, and competency in line with regulatory expectations
- Address performance concerns promptly and professionally
- Champion and embed trauma\-informed care across all aspects of practice
- Ensure care plans, risk assessments, and daily records are of the highest standard
- Support staff to build meaningful, therapeutic relationships with young people
- Ensure safeguarding practices are robust and consistently applied
- Maintain compliance with Care Inspectorate regulations and national care standards
- Support audits, inspections, and continuous improvement processes
- Contribute to rota planning to ensure safe staffing levels at all times
- Ensure effective communication through structured handovers and reporting systems
- Work on shift as part of the rota, providing direct support to young people
- Model best practice in behaviour management, boundaries, and relationship\-building
- Support young people with daily routines, education, activities, and life skills
- Participate in a structured on\-call rota to provide out\-of\-hours management support
- Respond to incidents, safeguarding concerns, and operational issues in a timely and professional manner
- Provide guidance and decision\-making support to staff during evenings, nights, and weekends
- Escalate significant concerns appropriately in line with safeguarding and organisational procedures
- Ensure all on\-call actions are clearly recorded and communicated to the management team
Essential
- Proven supervisory or senior experience within children’s residential care
- Strong working knowledge of the Care Inspectorate and regulatory frameworks
- In\-depth understanding of trauma\-informed care and therapeutic approaches
- Demonstrable experience supporting children and young people with learning disabilities (essential requirement)
- HNC in a relevant discipline (e.g. Social Care)
- SVQ Level 4 in Social Services \& Healthcare (or actively working towards completion)
- Experience supporting young people with autism, ADHD, and complex needs
- Ability to lead with both compassion and authority
- Excellent organisational, communication, and leadership skills
- Flexibility to work a rota including evenings, weekends, and on\-call duties
- Experience contributing to inspections and service development

Pay: £35,000\.00\-£38,000\.00 per year
