Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Deputy Manager to support the smooth and efficient operation of our nursery. The successful candidate will play a key role in overseeing daily activities, ensuring the highest standards of care and early years education, and leading a team of childcare professionals. This position offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced practitioner with a strong background in early years education to further develop their leadership and management skills within a nurturing and child\-centred environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Nursery Manager in the day\-to\-day management of the setting, ensuring full compliance with all relevant regulatory and safeguarding standards.
- Supervise, mentor, and support nursery staff, fostering a positive and professional team culture focused on delivering exceptional childcare and early education.
- Oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of age\-appropriate learning programmes in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
- Ensure safeguarding and welfare requirements are consistently met, maintaining a safe, secure, and inclusive environment for all children.
- Monitor children’s development and wellbeing, ensuring accurate observations, assessments, and progress tracking.
- Support staff training and professional development to maintain high standards of practice across the nursery.
- Promote positive behaviour management strategies and encourage children’s independence, confidence, and social development.
- Maintain accurate documentation, including children’s records, staff rotas, and health and safety compliance logs.
- Build and maintain effective partnerships with parents, carers, and external professionals to support each child’s individual needs.
- Act as Manager in the absence of the Nursery Manager, ensuring continuity of leadership and operational standards.
- Proven experience within a nursery or early years setting, ideally in a senior role such as Third in charge or Deputy Manager previously.
- Recognised Level 3 (or above) qualification in Early Years Education or equivalent.
- Strong leadership and organisational skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
- In\-depth knowledge of safeguarding procedures and EYFS requirements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a professional and approachable manner.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure while maintaining high standards of care and compliance.
- A genuine passion for supporting children’s development and creating a positive early learning environment.
Pay: From £32,000\.00 per year
