Role Overview
We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Depot Labourer/Worker to join our team, specialising in the inspection, repair, and maintenance of trackway panels. This hands\-on role involves mechanical repairs, cleaning, refurbishment, and general depot duties. You will play an important part in ensuring all trackway equipment is safe, functional, and ready for deployment to customer sites.
Role/Responsibilities
Trackway Panel Repair \& Maintenance
· Conduct Detailed Inspections:
Carry out thorough checks on aluminium trackway panels to identify bends, cracks, wear, and missing or damaged components.
· Mechanical \& Structural Repairs:
Perform repairs such as straightening bent edges, realigning connectors, replacing brackets or fixings, tightening or replacing bolts, and ensuring panels fit and lock together correctly.
· Surface Restoration:
Grind, smooth, and dress damaged surfaces to restore safe and functional driving/walking areas. Patch minor dents and ensure panels are free from burrs or hazards.
· Welding \& Fabrication (if trained):
Complete welding repairs on cracked sections or brackets when needed and assist with simple fabrication tasks to restore structural integrity.
· Cleaning \& Preparation:
Pressure wash and deep clean panels to remove mud, oil, and debris. Ensure panels are dried, finished, and prepared for storage or dispatch.
· Assembly \& Disassembly of Components:
Remove and replace damaged components, ensuring all equipment and connectors operate correctly.
· Quality Control:
Inspect repaired panels to ensure they meet company standards. Record all issues found, repairs carried out, and parts used.
· Repair Area Organisation:
Maintain a clean, organised, and safe repair area with tools and replacement parts properly stored.
· Continuous Improvement:
Identify recurring damage patterns and suggest improvements to repair methods or handling practices.
Depot Operations
· Assist in the Loading and unloading of trackway panels using forklifts, telehandlers, or other depot machinery (training can be provided).
· Organise and store panels safely within the yard.
· Assist with stock checks, inventories, and equipment tracking.
· Maintain cleanliness and organisation throughout the depot.
Health \& Safety
· Follow company safety procedures, including PPE requirements and manual handling guidelines.
· Report hazards, faults, or incidents promptly.
· Support a safe working environment for team members and visitors.
Skills, Experience \& Training
Essential
· Experience in hands\-on, practical work such as construction, yard work, or mechanical repair.
· Understanding of hand tools and mechanical processes.
· Physically fit and capable of handling heavy materials.
· Strong attention to detail and a positive work ethic.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Forklift or telehandler licence.
· Welding or metalwork experience.
· Knowledge of depot or yard operations.
· Fully competent driver with a clean driving licence.
· Basic IT knowledge
· Good planner and able to programme works, provide reports and keep good site records and data.
Desirable
· Experience working with trackway or ground protection systems.
· CSCS and/or equivalent Health \& Safety training
