Job description
Working within the Food Standards and Feed Delivery team, you will help ensure that food is safe and is what it says it is, supporting the organisations that carry out frontline regulatory activity.
You will work at the heart of a collaborative and knowledgeable team that brings together operational and policy expertise. The role offers the chance to influence how national approaches are applied locally, contribute to the ongoing transition of the Food Standards Delivery Model into business as usual, and build strong relationships across government and beyond. This is a varied and rewarding role for someone who enjoys problem\-solving, partnership working and making a real public impact.
In this role, you will support the effective and consistent delivery of food standards official controls by local authorities, providing advice and responses to a wide range of regulatory queries. You will draw on evidence, professional judgement and close collaboration with colleagues to identify issues, resolve challenges and help shape clear guidance where needed, ensuring a consistent national approach.
You will also contribute to wider agency programmes and priorities by considering how changes and reforms affect delivery on the ground. This includes working with internal teams, devolved administrations and external partners, managing elements of external contracts, preparing briefings and representing the organisation in meetings. Alongside this, you will manage your own workload effectively and provide line management to a team member, supporting their development and maintaining a responsive and resilient service.
