We are seeking a dedicated Craft Gardener to join our team, responsible for maintaining the beauty and functionality of Leicester’s Parks, Open Spaces, and other green infrastructure. This role is ideal for someone passionate about horticulture and landscaping, offering a hands-on opportunity to enhance and preserve our city’s natural environments.

Day-to-day of the role:

• Maintain horticultural features across various sites including parks, housing areas, and highways.


• Prepare and maintain sports features, including care for artificial surfaces.


• Oversee the maintenance and development of both hard and soft landscaping features.


• Operate and maintain hand and mechanical specialist equipment used in the maintenance of these features.


• Drive and operate a tractor as part of routine maintenance tasks.


• Prepare and apply chemicals, such as herbicides, fungicides, and insecticides, safely and effectively.


• Ensure all sites are kept clean and tidy, providing a safe and pleasant environment for the community.


• Offer advice and support to customers using the facilities, ensuring a positive experience.


• Complete routine paperwork and report any issues to the Team Leader.


• Perform miscellaneous duties as required, contributing to the team’s efforts.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Proven experience and formal training in horticulture, grounds maintenance, or ecology.


• Experience of using horticultural chemicals and equipment.


• Experience working directly with customers.


• Willingness to perform physical work outdoors in all weather conditions.


• Possession of a UK Driving License is desired.
