The Role

We’re looking for a Controls \& Electrical Engineer to join our Engineering team, supporting our Howden manufacturing site.

This is a key role focused on maximising plant performance and minimising downtime through effective maintenance, fault finding and improvements to electrical and control systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and improve PLC, SCADA and electrical systems across site


• Diagnose faults and carry out repairs to keep production running efficiently


• Support day\-to\-day plant issues and provide expertise to site engineers


• Develop and manage control system lifecycle plans and upgrades


• Reduce reliance on external contractors through in\-house expertise


• Ensure effective planned and reactive maintenance delivery


• Install and commission new equipment and control systems


• Manage electrical spares to minimise production downtime


• Support continuous improvement initiatives across the site

Experience \& Knowledge

• Strong experience in electrical and control systems within a manufacturing environment


• Proven fault\-finding and maintenance experience on production equipment


• Knowledge of PLC systems and preventative maintenance processes


• Experience working in high\-volume or FMCG environments


• Familiarity with CMMS systems and ISO standards

• Recognised Electrical Engineering qualification (e.g. Apprenticeship, BTEC ONC or equivalent)

• Excellent problem\-solving and analytical skills


• Strong planning and organisational ability


• Self\-motivated with the ability to work independently


• Collaborative approach and clear communication skills

• HNC or further qualifications


• Experience with Lean methodologies (e.g. TPM, 5S)


• SCADA systems and robotics experience


• IOSH/NEBOSH or 18th Edition

• A hands\-on role within a fast\-paced manufacturing environment
