Consultant Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgeon (with interest in Paediatrics)
We are seeking to appoint a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon with a subspecialty interest in Paediatric Orthopaedics. The successful candidate will be fellowship trained and have the skills and experience to manage the full spectrum of trauma and orthopaedic conditions.
This is a full\-time post with participation in the Consultant on\-call rota and the post is available to start as soon as possible.
The postholder will play a key role in delivering and networking orthopaedic services across Lancashire, working collaboratively with regional partners to support the development of cohesive, high‑quality trauma and orthopaedic care. The successful applicant will complement the existing team of established consultants and work closely with the wider multidisciplinary team (MDT) within the Trauma and Orthopaedics Directorate.

The appointment will be made subject to the Trust’s Terms and Conditions of Service. The post will include clinical sessions at both Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital and Burnley General Teaching Hospital, and the successful applicant will be expected to contribute fully to both elective and emergency services.
East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust provides a caring service to a population of 566,000 in the Pennine Lancashire area. Services are provided from our two main sites, the Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital and Burnley General Teaching Hospital and from our community rehabilitation wards at Pendle Community Hospital, Accrington Victoria Hospital and Clitheroe Community Hospital.
Undertake elective theatre sessions at both Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital and Burnley General Teaching Hospital. Trauma theatre sessions will be based at Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital.
Undertake weekly fracture and elective outpatient clinics at Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital, working collaboratively with the Paediatric Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP), Physiotherapy, and Orthotics teams to deliver high‑quality, patient‑centred care.
Take responsibility for the training, supervision, and professional development of junior medical staff, including supervision within outpatient clinics and theatre sessions.
Actively contribute to service development within the Trauma and Orthopaedics Directorate.
Participate fully in clinical governance, audit and quality improvement activities, supporting the ongoing development and assurance of safe, personal, effective and high‑quality services.
