Applications are invited for a part\-time (0\.5 WTE, 5 PAs) Consultant in Paediatric Dermatology to join the highly specialised Dermatology Unit at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust.
The Dermatology service at GOSH is one of the largest and longest\-established paediatric dermatology units in the UK, with an international reputation for excellence in clinical care, training, and research. The unit has been running for nearly 30 years and has trained numerous consultants who now practise both nationally and internationally.
This post offers the opportunity to work within a world\-class multidisciplinary team managing a broad range of complex and rare paediatric skin conditions.
Key Responsibilities
Contribute to the consultant on\-call rota and ambulatory/inpatient dermatology service
Participate in the ongoing development of this leading tertiary/quaternary referral service
Deliver highly specialised outpatient care, including:
Epidermolysis bullosa (EB) clinics
General paediatric dermatology clinics
Laser dermatology services (including a dedicated laser list)
The GOSH Dermatology Unit hosts the largest tertiary/quaternary referral service for complex laser treatments in the UK, alongside a busy and diverse inpatient and outpatient caseload.
Main duties of the job
1\. Provide high\-quality care in paediatric dermatology, particularly for patients with
epidermolysis bullosa, epidermal differentiation disorders, and those undergoing laser treatments.
2\. Contribute to the day\-to\-day running and management of the dermatology
department.
3\. Supervise junior doctors clinically.
4\. Deliver high\-quality teaching to both undergraduates and postgraduates.
5\. Enhance the research profile of the department.
6\. Contribute to effective clinical governance.
7\. Demonstrate leadership and teamwork skills.

The consultant will also participate in the 1:4 paediatric dermatology on\-call rota, providing senior clinical advice and support.

Academic/Professional qualification/Training
Essential criteria
- GMC specialist registration with a Licence to Practice (obtained by designated start date)
- MRCP, MRCPCH or equivalent
- CCT/CCST in paediatrics or paediatric dermatology (or within 6 months at time of interview) or equivalent training and experience (eligible for Portfolio Pathway – previously known as CESR)
Desirable criteria
- Higher degree – PhD, MD or equivalent
- Formal teaching qualification
- Leadership qualification
Experience/Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Extensive experience in managing patients with EB and epidermal differentiation disorders
- Experience in lasers for children
- Experience of teaching students and multi\-disciplinary team
- Experience of leading in Clinical Audit processes
- Published research in peer reviewed journals in relevant area
- Awareness of the importance of Clinical Governance through experience of participating in quality or safety improvement projects
Desirable criteria
- Experience of recruiting patients to clinical research trials
- Experience of working in shared care clinics and clinical networks
- Experience of clinical leadership or management
