Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust wishes to appoint a new substantive consultant with a combined interest in Intensive Care and Anaesthesia.

The Critical Care component will also be split across both our sites with a slightly higher proportion of time spent supporting the Critical Care unit in Gloucestershire Royal Hospital. The on\-call component of this will all be in support of the Critical care on call, this is on a 1 in 9 basis.

The daily work pattern will be undertaking a minimum of twice daily ward rounds, the assessment and admission of appropriate patient from all areas of the hospital including ED, AMU, theatres and wards. In addition, the role is expected to support junior residents, ACCP’s and Advance trainees working on the Critical Care units.

You will be encouraged to attend several MDT meetings that include weekly radiology and rehab meetings along with alternate monthly M\+M and business meetings.

Almost half of your clinical commitment will be undertaken within anaesthesia, with a mix of elective, urgent and emergency work undertaken across the sites that comprise GHNSHFT. Whilst most of this will be within the theatres complex, some may be in remote areas such as radiology, cardiology or preoperative assessment clinics etc. We currently have intensive care doctors who have additional subspecialist anaesthetic interests such as obstetrics, paediatrics or inpatient pain, and are able to accommodate nearly all subspecialty interests following discussion with the specialty director.

We take pride in placing people at the centre of everything we do, working together as a united team. Driven by a shared ambition to continually grow, develop, and learn, we recognise and value every contribution. By combining our experience and skills, we not only support our vibrant, diverse communities, but also support one another.

With a team of over 9,000 employees, we are proud to be the largest employer in Gloucestershire and rank among the top 10 largest Trusts in the South West region. By joining our Trust, you will benefit from an excellent package that includes exclusive benefits, flexible working opportunities and the chance to gain valuable experience in one or both of our innovative hospitals.

As well as generous annual leave allowance, you will have access to the excellent NHS pension scheme, competitive bank rates, discounts at local shops and restaurants, access to two on\-site nurseries, discounted public transport, reward and recognition and a range of health and wellbeing initiatives to support you.

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion is crucial to ensuring fairness, celebrating differences and creating environments where everyone feels valued and empowered to contribute.
