Applications are welcome for the above permanent post based at the Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy.

We are looking to appoint a Consultant Anaesthetist with a general interest to complement a department of 40 in a busy District General Hospital, with a particular interest in pain management.

We provide anaesthesia for a wide range of specialty surgery including Robotics, General Surgery, Breast, ENT, Maxillofacial, Obstetrics, Gynaecology (general and oncology), Trauma and Orthopaedics, Ophthalmology and Paediatrics. Day surgery is performed at a stand\-alone unit in Dunfermline. We also provide support to a new National Treatment Centre for elective Orthopaedic work.

The Fife Pain Management Service has a strong multidisciplinary approach to the care of patients with Chronic pain. This exciting post is at the forefront of the service. FPMS deliver pain management in line with the Scottish service model, recognising persistent pain as a long term condition. The appointee will be expected to undertake patient assessment, formulate management pathways to support complex patients with persistent pain and liaise with referrers and stakeholders out with the service as required. Please note we are a non\-interventional service.

The successful candidate will have FRCA or equivalent and be on the Specialist Register.

Applicants must have full GMC Registration, a license to practise and eligible for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register. Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from the date of interview. Portfolio Pathway (formerly known as CESR \- Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration) route doctors are only eligible to apply for a substantive consultant post once it has been awarded. Non\-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training to Non\-UK Applicants must demonstrate that they have the knowledge, skills and experience required for practising as an eligible specialist in the UK.
