Role Summary
The Compliance Engineer is responsible for ensuring effective and proportionate compliance with the Integrated Management System (IMS), covering IATF16949, ISO9001, ISO14001 and ISO45001, through a risk\-based, system\-led approach.
The role ensures the business remains audit\-ready, legally compliant, and operationally effective, while supporting continuous improvement and sustainable operations.
Purpose
To ensure the business is protected from customer, regulatory, and compliance risk by delivering practical, system\-based compliance and continuous improvement across quality, safety, and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities
Management System \& Compliance
- Maintain and improve the Integrated Management System (IMS) aligned to operational requirements
- Ensure documentation is current, practical, and embedded in day\-to\-day operations
- Support integration of quality, safety, and environmental requirements
- Deliver risk\-based internal audit programmes across IATF, ISO9001, ISO14001 and ISO45001
- Support external audits and certification activities
- Manage audit findings and ensure timely closure of actions
- Ensure compliance with applicable legal, regulatory, and environmental requirements
- Support management of environmental permits, waste streams, and SHE obligations
- Support regulatory control and risk management processes
- Lead and support risk assessments (quality, safety, and environmental)
- Support structured investigations and root cause analysis (RCA)
- Ensure actions are defined, tracked, and effectively closed
- Ensure visibility and control of NCR system performance (aging, recurrence, trends)
- Support system alignment with IATF requirements and core tools principles
- Contribute to system\-level improvement through audit and data insights
Sustainability \& Continuous Improvement
- Support environmental compliance and sustainability objectives
- Identify and implement opportunities for system simplification
- Reduce duplication and administrative burden within compliance processes
- Support coaching and guidance on SHEQ requirements across the business
- Promote a culture of ownership, compliance, and continuous improvement
Essential:
- Experience with IATF16949 or ISO9001, plus ISO14001 and/or ISO45001
- Experience within a manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of audit processes and compliance requirements
- Lead Auditor qualification
- NEBOSH, IEMA or equivalent
- Experience integrating quality and SHE systems
- Risk\-based thinking
- Systems mindset and process improvement focus
- Structured problem solving (RCA)
- Strong stakeholder engagement
- Ability to simplify and improve processes
Ensures the business remains compliant, audit\-ready, and operationally effective through a practical, risk\-based and system\-led approach to SHEQ management.

Pay: £40,000\.00\-£48,000\.00 per year
