Communications Designer (Campaigns)
Description
We’re looking for someone who can’t stop thinking of ideas to join our creative team.
We make advertising that people actually notice. Sometimes that's a social campaign. Sometimes it's a stunt. Sometimes it's a poster. Sometimes it's something nobody has tried before (like sending a tax submission from space).
If you love the thrill of advertising and want to bring fresh, un\-boring concepts to life across every media channel imaginable, we would love to chat.
The role
We're hiring for ideas first.
In this role, you won't just be formatting templates or pushing pixels \- you’ll be a conceptual engine. You’ll spend your time thinking about hooks, angles, and stories that stop people from scrolling, whether that’s on paid social, digital platforms, or a direct mail piece arriving on a doorstep.
What you'll be doing* Coming up with the big idea: Developing multi\-channel marketing campaigns from a blank page to final delivery.
- Thinking ad\-first: Obsessing over what makes a piece of communication work \- focusing on the hook, the visual joke, the headline, and how it fits the platform.
- Shaping the narrative: Partnering with copywriters to make sure the visual concept and the words marry together perfectly.
- Making stuff: Bringing your ideas to life across paid social, eye\-catching print, event branding, and digital content.
- Championing the brand: Collaborating with the wider team to champion, protect, and evolve our brand identity.
You
We're not looking for a checklist of qualifications. We’re looking for someone with the right set of skills.
You might:
- Have a massive folder of screenshots of ads you've saved because they're brilliant.
- Get genuinely annoyed when brands explain instead of entertain.
- Be the person who sends your mates ‘look at this campaign’ messages at 11pm
Your portfolio should make us think, *"I wish we'd made that."* Show us your brain at work \- even if it's fake ads or personal passion projects you made just for fun.### Our work life

FreeAgent aims to remove the stress and pain of dealing with business finances. From the very beginning in 2007, our aim was to create a product that would make an impact and improve the lives of micro\-businesses in the UK. Now FreeAgent is one of the UK's most popular online accounting software providers, with over 200,000 customers.
Not to blow our own horn … but in 2025 ICB LUCA Awards named FreeAgent the 'Friendliest Software of the Year' for the sixth time (following wins in 2019, 2020, 2022, 2023, 2024\), and in 2024 we won the UK Customer Experience silver award for 'Customers at the Heart of Everything'. The list could go on!
From hiring our very first employee back in 2008, we’ve grown to over 250 employees who all share the same vision and values. Find out more about what it's like to work here on our Life at FreeAgent blog. If you still have questions, email talent@freeagent.com
FreeAgent is an equal opportunities employer, and we invest in our people and culture to ensure we have a happy, diverse and high\-performing team. We strongly encourage applications from people with varied backgrounds and perspectives. All applicants are considered for employment without attention to ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, disability, family or parental status.
We hope the detail in our job advertisements is informative but not limiting. Research shows, and we’ve observed, that underrepresented groups are less likely to apply for a role without meeting all of the criteria listed. If this feels relatable we’d encourage you to apply, even if you think there may be areas for development.
