We are an established restaurant business based in Leeds, committed to providing high\-quality food, service and customer experiences. As the business continues to develop, we are looking for an experienced Commercial Manager to support the company's commercial performance, financial planning and business development.
This is a senior commercial role with responsibility for analysing business performance, identifying opportunities for sustainable growth, managing commercial relationships and supporting the Directors in strategic decision\-making.
The Role
The Commercial Manager will be responsible for overseeing and improving the commercial performance of the business. The successful candidate will work closely with the Directors and operational teams to develop commercial strategies, monitor financial and operational performance, control costs and identify opportunities to increase revenue and profitability.
The role will involve a combination of commercial analysis, financial planning, business performance management, supplier and commercial negotiations, market analysis and business development.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement commercial strategies to support the company's revenue growth and profitability.
- Analyse sales, revenue, costs, margins and other key business performance indicators and provide recommendations to management.
- Prepare budgets, financial forecasts, cash\-flow projections and commercial performance reports.
- Monitor business performance against budgets and forecasts and identify areas requiring corrective action.
- Analyse product, menu and service performance to identify opportunities for improved margins and commercial returns.
- Review pricing, promotional activities and sales performance and provide commercially focused recommendations.
- Monitor supplier costs and commercial terms and support negotiations with suppliers and other business partners.
- Evaluate existing commercial arrangements and identify opportunities to improve cost efficiency and profitability.
- Conduct market and competitor research to identify changes in customer demand, market trends and potential commercial opportunities.
- Analyse the performance of online ordering and delivery channels and identify opportunities to improve revenue and customer acquisition.
- Identify and develop new business opportunities, including corporate customers, catering opportunities, local partnerships and other revenue streams.
- Prepare commercial proposals, business cases and financial analysis for new initiatives and investments.
- Establish and monitor commercial KPIs and provide regular management reports to the Directors.
- Work collaboratively with restaurant management, kitchen, customer service and administrative teams to ensure commercial objectives are effectively implemented.
- Support the Directors with strategic planning and the evaluation of business expansion and development opportunities.
- Review business processes and recommend improvements to increase operational efficiency and commercial performance.
- Maintain appropriate commercial records and ensure that decisions are supported by accurate financial and market information.
Essential
- Degree\-level qualification in Business, Finance, Management, Economics or a related discipline.
- Significant professional experience in commercial management, business management, corporate finance, financial analysis or a related field.
- Strong experience in financial modelling, budgeting, forecasting and business performance analysis.
- Experience preparing commercial reports and presenting analysis to senior management.
- Strong analytical and problem\-solving skills.
- Experience in commercial negotiation and managing relationships with external business partners or suppliers.
- Strong understanding of business planning and revenue and cost management.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
- Experience working within hospitality, food service, retail, consumer\-facing or other customer\-oriented businesses.
- Experience with online ordering, delivery platforms or other digital sales channels.
- Experience developing new revenue streams, partnerships or corporate business relationships.
- Experience working in a fast\-paced SME environment.
- Competitive salary of £51,500 per annum.
- Full\-time permanent employment.
- 35 hours per week.
