Location: Multiple UK sites — travel required
Terms: Full\-time, Permanent, Monday–Friday (0900\-17\.30\)
Salary: £42,000 – £45,000 dependent on experience
The Role
Our gas engineers carry out a range of work across residential and commercial plant rooms, so day\-to\-day tasks vary depending on the project. Work will mainly consist of installation, servicing, maintenance, and fault\-finding on boilers, hot water cylinders, pumps, expansion vessels, and associated pipework.
We are looking for a qualified, experienced Commercial Gas Engineer to join our team working across sites in the England. Successful candidates will be required to travel between sites, using a company vehicle, and will be expected to deliver a consistently high standard of workmanship while maintaining strong communication with site teams and clients.
Key Tasks
- Installing, servicing, and maintaining boilers, hot water cylinders, pumps, expansion vessels, and pipework in residential and commercial plant rooms
- Carrying out inspections, fault diagnosis, and repairs on plant room gas installations
- Carrying out gas safety checks, tightness testing, and purging in line with current regulations
- Completing landlord gas safety records (CP12\) and other required certification as a registered operative under Aldo Facilities Management Limited's Gas Safe business registration
- Reading and working from technical drawings and specifications
- Carrying out risk assessments and method statements before work begins
- Carrying out all duties with due regard for safe working practices, Gas Safety (Installation and Use)
- Regulations, Health and Safety Regulations, and site\-specific requirements, at all times safeguarding yourself, colleagues, and members of the public
- Liaising with site managers and other trades to ensure work is delivered on programme
- Maintaining accurate records of completed works, certification, and materials used
- Ensuring all tools and equipment are maintained in safe working order and used in accordance with manufacturer's instructions
- Assessing issues that require further attention and reporting back to management
- Working independently and unsupervised, managing your own workload and prioritising tasks to meet deadlines
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Gas Safe registered operative (or eligible for registration under Aldo Facilities Management Limited's Gas Safe licence on joining), holding a valid ID card evidencing Commercial gas categories
- ACS Core Commercial Gas Safety (CODNC01\)
- CIGA1 \- Commercial Indirect Fired Appliances: Boilers/Water Heaters (Natural Draught, Fanned Draught, Forced Draught)
- ICPN1 \- Installation of Commercial Pipework (first fix)
- TPCP1A \- Testing and Purging (Non NG Transportation Pipework up to 1 bar)
- CORT1 \- Commercial Overhead Radiant Plaque and Tube Heaters
- CPA1 \- Chimneys and Flues
- Unvented Hot Water Systems qualification (G3\), for work on unvented hot water cylinders
- Proven experience in a similar role working in residential and/or commercial plant rooms
- Good working knowledge of commercial boilers, hot water cylinders, pumps, expansion vessels, and associated pipework
- Results\-oriented with the ability to take ownership of responsibilities
- Good organisational skills with the ability to work to deadlines
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication skills and client focus
- Satisfactory Basic DBS check (required prior to starting, due to work in occupied residential properties)
- Commercial Gas Engineering: 2 years
- Willingness to travel to sites across the England required
- Legionella awareness (working knowledge of L8 ACOP), given work on hot water storage systems
- Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS) or plant room controls
- Experience working on construction sites (CSCS card)
- IPAF licence (for working at height where required, e.g. roof\-mounted plant)
