Commercial Catering \& Laundry Engineer – Electrical/Plumbing Background – Full Training Provided

WPTR Ltd – Engineer must be based in Yorkshire / Covering Yorkshire \& Humberside / Occasional North East

Salary: Starting from £32,000 per year, with higher salaries available for relevant experience.
Job Type: Full\-time
Hours: Typically 8:00am–4:30pm, Monday to Friday. Jobs and travel may occasionally run over.

About the Role:

WPTR Ltd is a growing, family\-run business looking for a practical and motivated engineer to join our team.

This is not an apprenticeship. We are looking for someone with existing electrical and plumbing experience who wants to develop their skills and move into commercial catering and laundry engineering.

You do not need previous experience with catering or laundry equipment. Full hands\-on training will be provided.

You will initially work alongside an experienced engineer, learning the equipment, fault\-finding and repair processes. Once you have demonstrated that you are ready, you will progress to working independently on customer sites carrying out basic servicing, maintenance and repairs.

This is a great opportunity for an electrician or plumber looking to develop into a multi\-skilled service engineer and build a long\-term career with a growing family\-run business.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Working alongside experienced engineers during your initial training.

  • Learning to service, maintain and repair commercial catering and laundry equipment.

  • Carrying out electrical and plumbing repairs.

  • Learning to fault\-find and diagnose equipment problems.

  • Attending customer sites and providing professional customer service.

  • Completing job sheets and service documentation.

  • Using electrical testing equipment and specialist tools.

  • Maintaining company tools, equipment and vehicle.

  • Working safely and in accordance with relevant industry standards.

  • Progressing to working independently on basic repairs once suitably trained.
Essential Requirements

The successful applicant will ideally have:

  • Good electrical experience.

  • Good plumbing experience.

  • A practical, hands\-on approach to engineering and repairs.

  • Ability to fault\-find and diagnose basic problems.

  • Full UK driving licence.

  • Good communication and customer service skills.

  • Ability to work independently once trained.

  • Professional approach to customers and colleagues.

  • Based in Yorkshire.

  • Previous catering or laundry equipment experience is not required.

  • Must have no criminal record, as the role requires security vetting and access to secure customer sites.
Training \& Progression

Full training will be provided on commercial catering and laundry equipment.

The aim is to get you working independently on basic repairs and servicing within a relatively short period, once you have demonstrated that you are ready.

As your knowledge, skills and ability develop, you will take on more responsibility and more complex work.

Your salary will increase as your skills, experience and responsibilities develop. We want to reward engineers who progress, become more independent and take on greater responsibility.

For the right person, there may also be an opportunity to train towards gas qualifications in the future. This is not guaranteed and would be based on performance, attitude, ability and the needs of the business.

Salary \& Overtime

  • Starting salary from £32,000 per year.

  • Higher starting salaries available for candidates with relevant experience.

  • Your salary will increase as your experience, skills, performance and responsibilities develop.

  • Salary progression will reflect your ability, development and the level of work you are able to undertake independently.

  • Door\-to\-door paid travel.

  • Overtime paid.

  • Jobs and travel can occasionally run over the normal working day, with additional time paid as overtime.

  • Overtime is generally optional.

  • Monday to Friday working, with no routine weekend work.
Benefits
  • Company van provided once working independently.

  • Tools and specialist equipment provided.

  • Uniform and workwear provided.
