CNS Within The Sleep Service
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Sleep Service for a motivated and enthusiastic Band 6 Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our specialist multidisciplinary team.
In this role, you will play a key part in delivering high\-quality, patient\-centred care for individuals with a range of sleep and respiratory disorders. You will be responsible for undertaking new patient assessments, facilitating and conducting sleep studies, and interpreting diagnostic results. A core component of the role involves initiating appropriate treatment and providing ongoing follow\-up and long\-term management for patients with sleep disordered breathing, ensuring continuity of care and optimal patient outcomes.
The post also includes a significant responsibility for the management of Home Non\-Invasive Ventilation (NIV) patients. This will involve initiating ventilation, providing comprehensive patient education, monitoring treatment effectiveness, and delivering regular long\-term follow\-up to support adherence and optimise therapy.
This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop advanced clinical skills within a dynamic and supportive service, while making a meaningful difference to the lives of patients living with chronic sleep and respiratory conditions.

Undertake comprehensive new patient assessments for individuals referred to the Sleep Service with suspected sleep and respiratory disorders.
Facilitate, perform, and support sleep studies, ensuring patients are appropriately prepared and informed.
Interpret sleep study diagnostic results in line with agreed protocols and contribute to clinical decision\-making within the multidisciplinary team.
Initiate and implement treatment plans for patients with sleep disordered breathing, in accordance with evidence\-based guidelines.
Provide ongoing follow\-up and long\-term management of patients, monitoring treatment effectiveness and adjusting care plans as required.
Play a key role in the management of Home Non\-Invasive Ventilation (NIV) patients, including initiation of ventilation and therapy set\-up.
Deliver patient education and support to promote understanding, adherence, and self\-management of sleep and ventilation therapies.
Monitor and review the effectiveness of NIV therapy, identifying and addressing issues related to compliance or clinical deterioration.
Ensure continuity of care through regular review and long\-term follow\-up, liaising with the wider MDT and external services as appropriate.
Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation and contribute to service evaluation and quality improvement initiatives.
Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, effective, and patient\-centred care.
