Role Overview:
The 3\-Axis CNC Miller will be responsible for setting and operating 3\-axis CNC milling machines to produce high\-quality, precision components in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications and production requirements. The role would suit a skilled CNC machinist who takes pride in producing accurate work, maintaining high standards of quality and working efficiently within a busy manufacturing environment.
Key Duties/Responsibilities:
- Set and operate 3\-axis CNC milling machines
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and technical documentation
- Set work offsets, tool offsets and tooling as required
- Select appropriate cutting tools, speeds, feeds and machining strategies
- Load and inspect CNC programs and make minor program edits where required
- Produce components to specified tolerances and quality standards
- Carry out first\-off inspections and in\-process quality checks using precision measuring equipment, including verniers, micrometers and height gauges
- Identify and resolve machining issues to maintain production quality and efficiency
- Deburr and finish components to the required standard
- Maintain accurate production and quality records
- Carry out routine machine checks and maintain a clean and safe working area
- Work in accordance with company health \& safety, quality and manufacturing procedures
- Communicate effectively with production, engineering and quality teams
- Proven experience as a CNC Miller / CNC Machinist
- Experience setting and operating 3\-axis CNC milling machines
- Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Good understanding of CNC machining principles, tooling and cutting parameters
- Experience using precision measuring equipment
- Ability to work to tight tolerances and maintain consistent quality
- Good problem\-solving and fault\-finding skills
- CNC programming or editing experience desired
- Knowledge of controllers desired: Fanuc, Heidenhain, Siemens, Mazatrol or other relevant controls
- Experience with CAM software desired
- Experience machining aluminium, stainless steel or other engineering materials desired
- Experience within a precision engineering, medical, aerospace, automotive or similar manufacturing environment desired
- Relevant CNC machining qualification or apprenticeship desired
- Quality\-focused and methodical approach, with strong attention to detail
- Reliable and punctual, with a positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Good communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong commitment to health and safety
- Able to manage workload and meet production deadlines
