CNC Machinists: CNC Millers & CNC Turners

Due to continued investment and business development, Zeus Engineering is looking for experienced CNC Millers and CNC Turners to join our team in Airdrie.

We have opportunities for skilled machinists who can program, set and operate modern CNC machining centres or CNC lathes. You may specialise in milling or turning, or have experience across both disciplines.

This is a hands\-on workshop role producing a wide variety of precision components for customers operating across demanding industries. You will be trusted to apply your machining knowledge, solve practical manufacturing challenges and help us continuously improve our processes.

What you’ll do

Depending on your experience and specialism, your responsibilities will include:

• Program, set and operate CNC milling machines, machining centres or CNC lathes.


• Manufacture one\-off and small\-batch precision components to engineering drawings and customer specifications.


• Create, prove out, edit and optimise CNC programs.


• Select appropriate tooling, holders, workholding and cutting data.


• Plan efficient machining sequences for a range of components and materials.


• Read and interpret engineering drawings, tolerances and GD\&T requirements.


• Complete in\-process inspection using micrometers, gauges and other measuring equipment.


• Identify opportunities to improve cycle times, repeatability and right\-first\-time quality.


• Support essential daily workshop and organisational activities.


• Contribute to a safe, clean and well\-organised working environment.


• Work collaboratively with colleagues to meet quality and delivery requirements.

What you’ll bring

Essential

• Previous experience as a CNC Miller, CNC Turner, CNC Machinist or CNC Programmer/Setter.


• The ability to program, set and operate modern CNC machine tools.


• Experience producing precision components to tight tolerances and high\-quality surface finishes.


• A sound understanding of tooling, workholding, cutting data and machining strategies.


• The ability to read and work confidently from engineering drawings.


• Competence using appropriate measuring and inspection equipment.


• A practical and methodical approach to problem\-solving.


• Good communication and organisational skills.


• A flexible, positive and safety\-conscious approach to work.


• The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.


• The right to work in the UK.

Nice to have

• Experience within a subcontract precision machining environment.


• Experience with Mazatrol, Fanuc, Siemens or similar controls.


• Experience with vertical or horizontal machining centres.


• Experience with multi\-axis or 5\-axis milling.


• Experience with CNC turning, driven tooling, mill\-turn or multi\-axis lathes.


• Offline CAM experience, including systems such as Fusion.


• Experience with probing cycles, macros or Renishaw systems.


• Experience using advanced inspection equipment, including a FARO Arm.


• Experience machining steels, stainless steels, aluminium or exotic materials.


• Experience manufacturing components for regulated or demanding sectors such as nuclear, oil and gas, power generation, rail or renewable energy.

Direct experience with every machine, control or system listed is not required. If you have strong CNC programming and machining fundamentals, training and support can be provided to help you develop further.

Working pattern

• 39 hours per week.


• Day\-shift workshop role.


• Overtime available.


• Occasional early starts or later finishes may be required to meet customer schedules.
