The paediatric Metabolic Bone Disease Service at Sheffield Children’s Hospital is currently looking for a senior paediatric nurse (Band 6\) to join their multi\-disciplinary team.

This is a permanent post and is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dedicated team caring for children with all forms of metabolic bone disease, predominantly osteogenesis imperfecta.

We are a nationally commissioned service heavily involved in research and new drug therapies for our patient group.

The CNS team provide patients and their families with education and support at the time of diagnosis and beyond. They are a point of contact for families and other healthcare professionals.

The role also involves co\-ordination and organisation of patient admissions, including medical treatments for children who travel from throughout the UK to attend our specialist service.

Working within a specialist Children’s hospital, the successful candidate can expect to build close working relationships with other members of the team such as physiotherapists, occupational therapists, social workers and psychology.

Applicants must be NMC registered and have at least 2 years Band 5 experience.

Evidence of excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a busy multi\- disciplinary team is required.

Reporting into the Clinical Nurse Specialist, some of your responsibilities will include:

Deliver and evaluate specialist nursing care across a range of settings

Support service development through policies, guidelines and care pathways.

Provide clinical leadership, supervision, education and training

Advocate for children, young people and families, promoting age‑appropriate care

Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and external partners.

Contribute to data collection, audit and research to improve outcomes
