The Royal Marsden Pain Management Service is excited to offer an excellent opportunity for an experienced and motivated nurse to join our specialist team.

As a Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist or Band 6 (developing role), you will play a key role within a dynamic multidisciplinary team, delivering expert assessment, management, and coordination of care for patients across our Chelsea (London) and Sutton (Surrey) sites. You will contribute to the delivery of safe, effective, and compassionate care in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

This is a varied and rewarding role that combines advanced clinical practice with leadership and service development. Alongside providing high\-quality patient care, you will support the growth of colleagues through teaching and mentorship, both formally and informally. You will also take an active role in service improvement, leading audits, contributing to research, and driving initiatives that enhance patient care and outcomes.

The successful applicant will be based primarily at their preferred site, with flexibility to work across both locations in line with service needs.

The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) in Pain Management plays a pivotal role in delivering and enhancing specialist pain management services across The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, supporting both inpatient and outpatient care at the Chelsea and Sutton sites. This advanced clinical role focuses on the assessment and management of acute, chronic, and complex pain in patients with cancer, including those referred to specialist clinics such as chemotherapy\-induced peripheral neuropathy, neuromodulation, and capsaicin services. As an expert practitioner, the CNS will provide direct patient care while also leading service development initiatives, promoting excellence in cancer pain management through clinical leadership, innovation, education, and research.

1\.1 To serve as an expert in pain management and offer comprehensive pain services across the Trust, through evidence\-based practices, educational initiatives, and the development of policies and guidelines.

1\.2 To provide clinical leadership to nursing staff and offering expert professional guidance to various professionals, multidisciplinary teams, as well as acting as a resource to provide information and support to patients, carers and staff.

1\.3 To take responsibility for own evidence\-based practice and implement and add to the body of knowledge that supports nursing practice within pain management.

1\.4 To liaise effectively with all members of the multi\-disciplinary health care team to achieve a synchronised specialist service.

2\.1 To sustain a high\-quality specialist service for the patient, from diagnosis through all stages of the disease and actively provide optimum liaison and continuity of care.

2\.2 In collaboration with the existing Clinical Nurse Specialists, to formulate and/or revise relevant policies and to regularly review these following change/implementations.

2\.3 To work within the procedures and policies of the Trust.

2\.4 In conjunction with the existing Clinical Nurse Specialists, to develop assessment tools that will ensure an appropriate level of nursing intervention so that patients with complex needs are referred to the appropriate specialist/s.
