*The Role*
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Paediatric Allergy Clinical Nurse Specialist (Band 7 equivalent) to join our expanding multidisciplinary team in a unique joint post across Allergy London and the Allergy Centre of Excellence.
This is an exciting opportunity for a nurse with substantial paediatric allergy experience to work alongside internationally renowned consultants, dietitians, and allied health professionals in delivering specialist care to children and young people with allergic disease.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting patients and families through diagnosis, education, treatment, and long\-term management of allergic conditions, while contributing to the development of innovative allergy services.
Key Responsibilities
Act as an autonomous specialist nurse within paediatric allergy services.
Undertake allergy\-focused clinical assessments and support consultant\-led clinics.
Provide education and counselling to children, young people, families, schools, and carers.
Deliver training in allergen avoidance, emergency management, adrenaline auto\-injector
use, and anaphylaxis management.
Support and monitor patients undergoing oral food challenges and oral immunotherapy
programmes.
Participate in day\-case and high\-dependency allergy services, ensuring patient safety at all times.
Coordinate patient pathways across both organisations to ensure a seamless patient
experience.
Act as a key point of contact for patients and families, providing specialist advice and support.
Work collaboratively with consultants, dietitians, psychologists, and administrative teams.
Contribute to clinical governance, audit, quality improvement initiatives, and service
development.
Support research activities and the implementation of evidence\-based practice.
Person Specification
Essential
Registered Children’s Nurse (RSCN/RN Child) or Registered Nurse with significant paediatric experience.
Current NMC registration.
Experience working within paediatric allergy services.
Experience managing food allergy, anaphylaxis, eczema, allergic rhinitis and asthma.
Experience supporting oral food challenges
Knowledge of oral immunotherapy (full training will be given).
Excellent communication and patient education skills.
Ability to work independently and manage a specialist caseload.
Evidence of continuing professional development.
Desirable
Allergy qualification or postgraduate study relevant to allergy or paediatrics.
Independent or supplementary prescribing qualification.
Experience in private healthcare settings.
Experience in audit, service development, or clinical research.
