Clinical Fellow in the department of Allergy and Immunology

We are inviting applications to fill our Clinical Fellow (ST3\-5\) vacancy at The Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust in Department of Allergy and Immunology. The post is a 12 months FTC.

Candidates must be fully registered with the General Medical Council and hold a license to practice by the intended start date.

We are recruiting to the Post of Clinical Fellow in Immunology at the Regional Specialist Immunology and Allergy unit. This post is suitable for a candidate at an early stage of their medical career. However, some previous experience in the specialty is advantageous.

The successful candidate will gain further exposure and training in all aspects of Adult Immunology and Allergy clinical practice. Emphasis will be given to management of patients with systemic autoinflammatory syndromes. The candidate will also be given an opportunity to undertake a research project in this subject area.

The Leeds Clinical Immunology and Allergy unit is a large internationally recognised centre of excellence with a strong commitment to clinical research. The multidisciplinary team presently care for over 500 adult patients with primary immunodeficiencies and autoinflammatory disorders.

Candidates must be fully registered with the General Medical Council and hold a license to practice at the time of application.

This post will involve 60% clinical and 40% research. The candidate will support the day to day running of the unit including attending outpatient immunology and allergy clinics. The candidate will also provide be expected to supervise challenge tests and provide support for the day\-case unit.

This post will provide the opportunity for successful candidates to work in the regional specialist unit for Clinical Immunology and Allergy. The successful candidate will gain extensive training in all aspects of the clinical immunology and allergy with the main focus of the post being on the management of primary immunodeficiencies and autoinflammatory disorders.

What you will bring to the role
-----------------------------------

The candidate should have prior experience in General Medicine. Prior experience in Clinical immunology and Allergy is desirable but not essential.

MBBS, MRCP or equivalent medical qualification

Be eligible for full registration with, and hold a current licence to practise from, the GMC at intended start date

Eligibility to work in the UK

Advanced Life Support Certificate from the Resuscitation Council UK or equivalent (as required to complete Foundation competences) by intended start date

Is up to date and fit to practise safely and is aware of own training needs

All applicants to have demonstrable skills in written and spoken English adequate to enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues

Significant experience after full GMC registration or equivalent, and evidence of achievement of foundation competences, in line with GMC standards / Good Medical Practice

Evidence of achievement of CT competencies in medicine (as defined by the curricular relating to Core Medical training or Core Surgical Training)

Evidence that present achievement and performance is commensurate with totality of their period of training

Ability to apply sound clinical knowledge and judgement to problems

Demonstrates understanding of the basic principles of audit, clinical risk management, evidence\-based practice, patient safety, and clinical quality improvement initiatives

Capacity to use logical/lateral thinking to solve problems/make decisions, indicating an analytical/scientific approach

Ability to show leadership, make decisions, organise and motivate other team members for the benefit of patients through, for example, audit and quality improvement Projects

Capacity to prioritise own workload \& organise ward rounds
