About us: St James’s Hospital is Ireland’s largest acute academic teaching hospital and is based in Dublin’s south inner city. Our fundamental purpose is the delivery of health treatment, care and diagnosis as well as health promotion and preventative services at local, regional and national levels. Our academic partner is Trinity College Dublin.
Purpose of the role: The primary purpose of Pharmacy Aseptic Compounding Unit (ACU) in St. James’ Hospital (SJH) is the manufacture and supply of individualised doses of medicinal products for administration to hospital patients. Current compounding processes incorporate both isolator and robotic technology, with in excess of 32,000 products processed per annum. Production is expected to grow annually at rate of 3 to 5%. A designated state of the art Cancer Institute is currently in design stages and will have a significant impact on how Pharmacy services are delivered in the coming years.
