Cheese Shop and E-commerce Manager
We are the Bath Soft Cheese Co. We have an exciting opportunity for someone to become the manager of our busy Cheese Shop and growing e\-commerce business.
Our Cheese Shop adjoins our café and is at the heart of our cheesemaking premises on our family\-run farm just outside Bath. Our cheeses are award\-winning, and the shop and café are hugely popular with locals and tourists alike.
The Cheese Shop is open seven days a week, from 9am to 5pm Monday to Saturday and 10am to 4\.30pm on Sundays.
About the role
We are looking for a proactive, organised and commercially minded Shop \& E\-commerce Manager to join the team at Park Farm.
You will play an important role in the continued development of our Cheese Shop and online store, taking responsibility for everything from product sourcing and pricing to Shopify, seasonal promotions and gift ideas.

Key responsibilities
Retail – Managing the Cheese Shop
- Oversee the day\-to\-day running and performance of the Cheese Shop, greeting and engaging with customers and staff in a positive, professional and enthusiastic manner. You will often be the first point of contact for customers arriving at Park Farm.
- Support and coordinate with the café team to maintain high standards of customer service.
- Maximise sales by monitoring performance and identifying opportunities to increase revenue and average customer spend.
- Manage product pricing, margins and promotions.
- Manage stock levels, ordering and product presentation.
- Maintain high standards of shop hygiene, ensuring the shop is kept clean and tidy even during busy periods. Take a leadership role in setting standards for cleanliness across the shop and café.
- Oversee barista work, ensuring coffee, tea and other drinks are prepared efficiently and to a high standard. Takeaway and café drinks are prepared by the shop team within the shop counter area.
- Balance the needs of customers ordering takeaway food and drinks with those looking for advice on cheese, gifts and other products.
- Plan ahead for key seasonal trading periods, particularly Christmas, as well as Valentine's Day, Mothering Sunday, Easter, the summer holidays, Back to School, Halloween and Bonfire Night.
- Manage and maintain the Park Farm Shopify website and online shop, ensuring it is engaging, dynamic and accurate.
- Create and update products, variants, seasonal collections, photography, pricing and product information.
- Maintain online merchandising and ensure the website provides a clear and engaging customer journey.
- Manage online gift cards, vouchers and experience products.
- Maintain online booking products for experiences such as Cheese Tours and Cheese Making Masterclasses.
- Work with relevant booking apps and platforms.
- Troubleshoot website and Shopify issues and find practical solutions.
- Ensure online pricing reflects the additional costs associated with selling and fulfilling products online.
- Monitor online sales and identify opportunities for growth.
Product sourcing
- Research and source new products, producers and suppliers.
- Develop the wider Cheese Shop range alongside Park Farm's own cheeses, including gifting and impulse\-purchase products.
- Review the range regularly and recommend products to introduce, replace or discontinue.
- Develop and maintain Park Farm gift boxes and hampers.
- Source complementary products and create new gift concepts.
- Cost bundles and calculate appropriate VAT and margins.
- Set retail prices and review profitability.
- Develop seasonal gifting ranges, particularly for Christmas.
- Manage the online presentation of Cheese Tours, Cheese Making Masterclasses, Afternoon Teas, Supper Clubs and other experiences.
- Maintain booking information, availability and customer requirements.
- Manage experience vouchers and redemption processes for both in\-shop and online sales.
- Provide a friendly, knowledgeable and approachable customer experience.
- Respond to customer enquiries, feedback and complaints.
- Produce clear customer\-facing information and in\-store signage.
- Create beautiful displays to impress customers on arrival
- Research and source equipment for point of sale, display and storage.
- Support improvements to storage, working areas and operational processes.
- Identify practical ways to improve efficiency across the business.
- Take ownership of projects from initial research through to implementation.
- Work across the Cheese Shop, Café, experiences and wider Park Farm team to solve operational and commercial problems.
We are looking for someone who is:
- Commercially minded and interested in how a business can grow and improve.

- Practical and solutions\-focused.
- Confident working independently and taking ownership of projects.
- Customer\-focused, with excellent communication skills.
- Numerate, with a good understanding of pricing, costs and profitability.
- Confident using Shopify.
Previous experience in retail, e\-commerce, hospitality, food, farm retail or a similar commercial environment would be advantageous.
Experience with any of the following would be particularly useful:
- Shopify or another e\-commerce platform
- Retail management
- Product sourcing and supplier management
- Food or deli retail
- Pricing and gross margin calculations
- Gift boxes, hampers or product development
- Online orders and fulfilment
- Booking systems or experience\-based businesses
What we are looking for
This role would suit someone who enjoys variety and wants to have a genuine impact on a growing independent business.
You might spend one morning reviewing product margins and speaking to suppliers, and the afternoon updating Shopify, solving a customer issue or working on a new gift box.
If you like taking an idea, figuring out how to make it work and seeing it through to completion, this could be the role for you.
The successful candidate will be expected to work five days per week, including one weekend day each week, except when on annual leave.

Bath Soft Cheese is home to a range of award\-winning cheeses made here at Park Farm, Kelston, just outside Bath, using milk from our own herd of cows.
