Sales & Digital Marketing Apprentice – Level 3
The opportunity
Haven Timber is looking to recruit one, potentially two, Sales \& Digital Marketing Apprentices to join our team in Norton St Philip.
This is an opportunity to develop practical experience across sales, customer service and digital marketing while working towards a recognised Level 3 Multi\-Channel Marketer apprenticeship.
The role combines day\-to\-day involvement in our sales operation with responsibility for helping develop Haven Timber’s digital presence. You will work with customers, learn our products and understand how the business operates, while developing skills in social media, content creation, website management, email marketing, SEO and e\-commerce.
You do not need previous marketing experience or knowledge of the timber industry. We are looking for someone with the right attitude, strong communication skills and an interest in developing a career in sales and digital marketing.
About Haven Timber
Haven Timber is an established independent timber, fencing and garden\-building merchant based in Norton St Philip, near Bath.
We supply trade and retail customers across Somerset and Wiltshire and the surrounding area and are continuing to invest in the growth and development of the business.
The role
Your responsibilities will include:
- Serving trade and retail customers and handling telephone and online enquiries.
- Preparing quotations and processing orders.
- Learning our timber, fencing, landscaping and garden\-building product ranges.
- Building customer relationships and identifying sales opportunities.
- Creating social\-media content, including product photography and short videos.
- Helping manage and develop website and online product content.
- Supporting promotions, seasonal campaigns and email marketing.
- Learning and applying SEO, online advertising and e\-commerce.
- Monitoring marketing activity and its impact on enquiries and sales.
- Contributing ideas for improving our marketing and growing the business.
The apprenticeship
Alongside your role at Haven Timber, you will work towards the Level 3 Multi\-Channel Marketer apprenticeship with an approved external training provider.
Training and study will take place during paid working hours, with protected time allocated for apprenticeship learning.
You will have the opportunity to apply your training directly to genuine Haven Timber projects across our website, social media, campaigns and online sales.
About you
We are looking for someone who is:
- Confident, friendly and comfortable dealing with customers.
- Interested in sales, business and digital marketing.
- Comfortable using digital technology and social media.
- Willing to create photographs, videos and written content.
- Organised, reliable and keen to learn.
- Able to communicate well both in person and in writing.
- Comfortable working in a busy trade and retail environment.
- Willing to contribute ideas and take responsibility as their experience develops.
No previous knowledge of timber or building products is required. Full product and systems training will be provided.
Salary \& progression
Starting salary: From £20,000 per year
£20,000 is our apprenticeship starting salary, with a higher starting salary available to reflect relevant skills and experience.
Your salary will be reviewed as you develop and take on more responsibility, with opportunities for progression beyond the apprenticeship.

Working hours
Monday to Friday: 7:30am–5:00pm
Alternate Saturdays: 8:00am–1:00pm
One\-hour unpaid break Monday to Friday.
Haven Timber closes for a period over Christmas. Employees are required to reserve part of their annual holiday entitlement for the Christmas shutdown. Dates will be confirmed in advance.
Location and transport
The role is based at Haven Timber in Norton St Philip, near Bath.
Own reliable transport is essential. There is no suitable public transport to our site for our working hours.
