Case Manager - Specialist Property Finance
City + Capital are currently representing a respected & growing short-term property finance lender who are currently expanding due to increased investment and funding lines. This hire is part of a broader business expansion & plays a key role in the delivery of funded loans for borrowers.
- This is a remote role with one day in the office per month for team collaboration.
- This is also a role that comes with a defined development plan to internal promotion.
The Company
Our client is an established bridging finance lender who are on an exciting growth curve.
The business has achieved significant organic growth in recent years and is now entering its next stage of development, supported by increased funding capacity and ambitious plans to continue expanding its loan book and team.
They differentiate themselves through a pragmatic and commercial approach to lending. Rather than operating within an overly rigid lending framework, the team focuses on understanding each transaction, identifying the genuine risks involved and finding sensible solutions where a deal can be structured appropriately.
Role Overview
As Case Manager, your ultimate role will be to oversee & drive forward a pipeline of cases from initial enquiry to funded loan. You will be mindful of key SLAs and borrower requirements & will work closely with both the sales and credit functions to achieve this.
Within the role you will assist by communicating with brokers, borrowers and other loan stakeholders to identify & onboard the relevant information and documents for deal assessment. Once the case has been built, you will ensure that each step is taken to ensure the deal is assessed and where required, passed to underwriting & credit for review.
Whilst the loan is in the pipeline, you will continue to support the brokers and professional panel with updates and requests and will update BDMs/Underwriter on requirements as needed.
Critically, with the company growth plans in mind, this role comes with fast-track internal development, which is usually towards Underwriting or Credit roles, but could also consider sales or portfolio management.
Responsibilities
- Build cases for new loans onboarded by the sales team
- Gather & review borrower information, liaising with loan stakeholders throughout
- Work closely with underwriting/credit on deal structuring & assessment
- Oversee case progress throughout time in the pipeline, reacting to needs
- Liaise with the professional panel, such as Lawyers/Qs/Accountants, to drive action
- Ensure cases are organised, accurate and ready for credit decisions
- Support the execution of loans that have been approved by credit committee
- Own key SLAs and borrower need and ensure these are managed & addressed
- Work closely with the sales team at all times to ensure they are aware of needs
- Develop broader credit and underwriting knowledge over time
- Contribute ideas and improvements within a growing lending environment
The ideal candidate for this role will be ambitious and will demonstrate some experience in mortgage administration, case management, underwriting or broker management. You must be confident to work from a home base and capable of managing scenario’s alone, as well as with the team.
Experience in bridging or development finance would be ideal, but not essential, where similar experience may be achieved working with other specialist products, such as BTL or commercial mortgages.
You also do not have to have worked for a lender or bank, experience within a brokerage or real estate finance advisory is very relevant.
Lastly, due to the nature of the role, the successful candidate will be highly organised, commercially minded and comfortable taking ownership of their workload. You should be proactive, quick to learn and capable of working effectively within each area of the JD.
Ideally, you will demonstrate:
- Previous case management or loan administration experience within property lending
- Excellent time management & prioritisation skills
- Capable of managing multiple loans simultaneously
- A strong attention to detail and capable of noticing threats & opportunities
- A good communicator with the ability to engage multiple loan stakeholders
- A commercial and pragmatic approach to problem solving
- The ability to identify and understand risk rather than simply follow a checklist
- A genuine interest in developing a longer-term career within credit and underwriting
The successful candidate can expect a base salary of up to c£45k, relevant to experience. Higher offers could be considered, should experience determine. Notably, there will be little ‘cost of travel’ in this role, making the money go further. Should you achieve an internal promotion as a result of your efforts in this role, you may expect your salary to be reviewed and increased at this time. c 9-18 months, relevant to performance.
Throughout, salary will be complemented by access to our client’s favourable bonus scheme that will assist with increasing annual earnings.
This is a remote role. Attendance at the office may be required but is not currently expected to be more than once per month.
