Carpets & Flooring Showroom Manager
Woven \& Woods is an award\-winning independent carpet and flooring retailer with showrooms in Richmond and Twickenham. We work in the mid\-to\-high\-end residential market, and our customers expect knowledgeable advice and high standards from first consultation through to installation.
We're a modern independent in a traditional industry, with a friendly team that likes to keep things practical. We value people who take responsibility, use their common sense and get things done.
The role
We're looking for an experienced flooring salesperson or showroom manager to lead our Richmond showroom day to day.
It's a hands\-on, customer\-facing role. You'll personally bring in a substantial share of the showroom's sales and help the team convert more of their enquiries. It isn't a purely supervisory job. You lead from the front, serving customers, preparing quotes and setting the standard you expect from everyone else.
Formal management experience isn't essential. You might be a successful flooring salesperson, supervisor or team leader ready for more responsibility, or you might already manage a showroom and want a role that keeps you close to the customers and the sale. Either way, you earn respect through your knowledge, judgement and example.
What you'll do
- Manage your own enquiries, consultations, quotations and follow\-up, and contribute a substantial share of the showroom's sales
- Lead by example and keep the showroom energetic and proactive
- Keep track of the team's live enquiries and quotations, and help move them to a decision
- Coach and support colleagues, especially with complex enquiries and building their product knowledge
- Keep the showroom, displays and samples looking their best
- Make sure our sales process is followed, and that quotations, specifications and order details are accurate and complete
- Negotiate and approve discounts within agreed margins
- Be the senior person in the showroom when the owner isn't there
- Take ownership of difficult customer conversations, complaints and service issues, and see them through
- Support events, promotions and new range launches
- Give the owner and commercial manager practical feedback on customers, products, pricing and the market
About you
- Ideally around five years in residential carpet and flooring sales. Direct flooring experience is strongly preferred
- A strong record of consultative sales and converting considered, higher\-value purchases
- Confident discussing carpet, wood, luxury vinyl, natural flooring and installation considerations
- Able to recommend the right product for the customer rather than just take orders
- Accurate quotations and consistent follow\-up
- Commercial awareness, with the confidence to negotiate while protecting margin
- Natural leadership, able to motivate and support colleagues
- Calm and confident with complaints and emotionally charged situations
- Organised and detail\-focused across several live customers and projects
- Comfortable with email, customer records, electronic diaries and standard office software
Working with the wider team
You'll report to the business owner and work closely with our commercial manager, who looks after pricing, business development and our relationships with interior designers and architects. Our employed surveyor does most of the surveys and technical surveys, so you and the showroom team can concentrate on customers, quotes and sales. An occasional customer or site visit may be needed for an important consultation or for customer service, but it isn't a routine part of the job.
