The Role
As a Qualified Carpenter / Kitchen Fitter, you will be responsible for installing our bespoke, hand\-crafted kitchens to a high standard directly in our customers' homes. Working from detailed design plans and specifications, you'll bring the design and sales team's work to life on site — fitting carcasses, worktops, doors and integrated appliances with precision and care. You will be the face of Horizon during installation, so a professional manner and pride in a flawless finish are just as important as your trade skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Install bespoke fitted kitchens in customers' homes to a high standard, working from detailed design plans and specifications.
- Fit carcasses, worktops, doors, panelling and integrated appliances precisely and in line with specification.
- Carry out first and second fix carpentry, coordinating with plumbers, electricians and other trades on site as required.
- Take precise on\-site measurements before installation, flagging any discrepancies against the design or survey before proceeding.
- Maintain a high standard of finish and quality control on every job, snagging and resolving issues before sign\-off.
- Represent Horizon professionally in customers' homes, keeping the worksite clean, tidy and respectful of the client's property throughout.
- Liaise with the production/workshop team, sales and design consultants, and other trades to ensure installations match specification and any on\-site issues are resolved efficiently.
- Report any on\-site issues, variations or additional works required back to the office and design team promptly.
- Manage your own time and schedule to complete installations within agreed timeframes.
- Adhere to health and safety standards on site at all times.
- Carry out a final walkthrough with the customer, ensuring their full satisfaction before sign\-off.
Essential:
- Qualified carpenter/joiner (time\-served apprenticeship or equivalent trade qualification).
- Proven experience fitting kitchens, ideally bespoke or high\-end, working directly in customers' homes.
- Strong practical skills across carcass assembly, worktop fitting, cabinetry, doors and finishing carpentry.
- Full, clean driving licence and own transport and tools.
- Comfortable reading and working from technical drawings and CAD design plans.
- High attention to detail and genuine pride in the quality of your finished work.
- Professional, courteous manner, comfortable working in customers' homes.
- Good communication skills, able to liaise confidently with the office, other trades and customers.
- Valid Safe Pass (or equivalent construction site safety certification).
- Experience installing integrated kitchen appliances.
- Working knowledge of basic plumbing/electrical requirements for appliance connections.
- Additional kitchen fitting or joinery industry certification.
- Previous experience working with high\-end or bespoke joinery products.
