Care Support Worker
Carers Wanted
Day shift plus bank shifts.
Cusworth/Scawsby area.
Are you passionate about helping people? Would you love the opportunity to make a real difference in someone’s life?
If the answer is yes, then let me introduce myself.
Hi,
I’m a fiercely independent woman with a high level of intelligence and a personality to match! Unfortunately, I also live with chronic health conditions which affect me every single day.
Please believe me when I say this is far from the life I imagined for myself. No one wants to wake up bed\-bound, in excruciating pain, or not knowing whether they are going to feel paralysed within their own body for days at a time.
But despite everything, I’m hopeful.
With the right support around me, I want to regain some elements of normality and, most importantly, be empowered to live the best life I possibly can.
I’m really keen to rediscover some of the things I love. I want to explore my passion for painting, get back into the kitchen and cook for my family, and enjoy more of the things that make me me.
I can also be cheeky, mischievous and a little bit of a troublemaker…
I solemnly swear I am up to no good!
So, could you be the person who helps me reignite my life?
I’m looking for someone who can provide excellent care and support while encouraging me to remain as independent as possible. Someone who can adapt to my changing needs, use their initiative, have a good sense of humour and, most importantly, treat me with dignity, respect and kindness.
If that sounds like you, I’d love to hear from you!
Key responsibilities:
Every day can be different, so flexibility and the ability to adapt are important.
Your role would include:
Providing personal care with dignity, respect and compassion
Offering emotional and practical support tailored to my daily needs
Supporting me to move safely and comfortably around my home
Encouraging and supporting me to maintain my independence
Helping me to enjoy hobbies and activities that are important to me
Preparing and cooking nutritious meals
Completing household duties to help maintain a clean, comfortable and welcoming home
Adapting to the varied nature of my health conditions with patience, flexibility and understanding
Supporting me with telephone calls and communication when needed
Attending appointments with me and advocating for me where required
Supporting and advocating for me within medical settings
Completing accurate and appropriate record keeping
Working alongside the rest of my support team to provide consistent and person\-centred care
What am I looking for in my support team?
Previous experience as a personal assistant/support worker is desirable but not essential as all training will be provided.
Good IT skills are useful, along with a willingness to learn new systems and
equipment where required.
Driving is preferred but not essential.
I’m looking for someone who is:
Kind, positive and approachable
Someone with a good sense of humour, a positive attitude and a genuine desire to help another person.
Confident and willing to use their initiative
I need someone who can work independently, think on their feet and isn't afraid to get involved.
Calm and patient
My health can be unpredictable, so being able to remain calm, whilst under pressure is important.
Someone patient and understanding when things don't go to plan
Reliable and dependable
I need a team I can trust to provide consistent and reliable support.
Flexible
My needs can change from one day to the next, so being adaptable and flexible with working hours is important.
A good communicator
Excellent communication and active listening skills are essential, both when
working with me and as part of my wider support team.
Discreet and respectful
My privacy is incredibly important. You will be expected to maintain confidentiality
and follow all relevant data protection requirements.
Most importantly, I want someone who sees me as a person first, not just someone they
