Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Care Home Cook to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing nutritious, appealing meals tailored to the dietary needs of residents within a caring environment. This role offers an excellent opportunity to utilise culinary skills in a supportive setting, ensuring residents enjoy wholesome and well\-presented food. The position involves working closely with care staff to deliver high standards of food safety and quality, contributing positively to residents’ wellbeing and satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook daily meals in accordance with dietary requirements and nutritional guidelines


• Plan menus that cater to diverse tastes and special dietary needs, including allergies and medical conditions


• Ensure all food is prepared in line with food safety standards and hygiene regulations


• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area at all times


• Manage stock levels, order supplies as needed, and minimise waste


• Assist with serving meals to residents in a courteous and professional manner


• Record food temperatures, stock movements, and other relevant documentation accurately


• Collaborate with care staff to ensure meal times are smooth, timely, and meet residents’ preferences


• IDDSI knowledge and experience in meal prep under IDDSI scale

• Proven experience in food preparation and cooking within a professional kitchen environment


• Strong knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices


• Ability to prepare meals that are both nutritious and visually appealing


• Experience working in a care home or similar setting is desirable


• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage time effectively during busy periods


• Good communication skills to liaise with care staff and residents as needed


• Flexibility to adapt menus based on residents’ changing needs or preferences


• A caring attitude with a commitment to providing high\-quality service in a compassionate manner
