Care Assistant

Location: Ascot House, Oswald Road, Scunthorpe
Role: Care Assistant
Availability: Full\-time and part\-time positions available

Most of this job is a handful of things done well. Helping someone wash and dress, getting them through to the dining room, sitting with them when they want the company. What makes someone good at it is doing those things the way that particular resident likes them done, and remembering next time.

If you have never worked in care, that is not a problem. We will train you.

What the role involves

• Helping our residents with washing, dressing and using the bathroom


• Supporting people to eat and drink, and sitting with those who would rather not eat alone


• Moving and handling, using the equipment we train you on


• Noticing when someone is not themselves, and telling the senior on shift


• Joining in with whatever is going on that day

The role involves being on your feet and moving around the home through the shift, including supporting residents with mobility where needed.

What we are looking for

• Turning up when you said you would. In this job that counts for more than anything else on this list.


• Patience with people who may be confused, in pain, or just having a bad day


• A willingness to learn. No previous care experience needed.
