Business Development Manager
About the Role
Metalian Ltd is seeking an ambitious and driven Business Development Manager to lead the growth of our WEEE and E\-Waste recycling division. This is an exciting opportunity to join a rapidly expanding recycling business and play a key role in developing new supply streams, building strategic partnerships, and driving revenue growth within the electrical and electronic waste sector.
The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying and securing new business opportunities across a wide range of sectors, including local authorities, waste management companies, IT asset disposal providers, retailers, manufacturers, compliance schemes, and commercial organisations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a business development strategy for the WEEE and E\-Waste division.
- Identify, target, and secure new suppliers and customers for electrical and electronic waste recycling services.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including producers, compliance schemes, local authorities, waste management companies, and commercial clients.
- Generate new business opportunities through networking, cold calling, site visits, industry events, and referrals.
- Prepare and negotiate commercial agreements, quotations, and service contracts.
- Monitor market trends, legislation, and competitor activity within the WEEE and recycling sectors.
- Work closely with operational teams to ensure smooth onboarding and service delivery for new customers.
- Maintain accurate records of sales activity and pipeline opportunities through CRM systems.
- Represent the company professionally at trade shows, conferences, and industry events.
- Assist in developing strategic partnerships to support the company’s growth plans and AATF operations.
Essential
- Proven experience in business development, sales, or account management within the recycling, waste management, environmental services, or related sectors.
- Strong track record of generating new business and achieving sales targets.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship\-building skills.
- Commercially minded with strong financial awareness.
- Self\-motivated and capable of working independently.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Willingness to travel throughout the UK.
- Experience within the WEEE, E\-Waste, ITAD, recycling, or waste management industry.
- Understanding of WEEE Regulations and environmental compliance requirements.
- Existing industry contacts and network within the recycling sector.
- Knowledge of material values, recovery processes, and downstream recycling markets.
