Business Development Manager – High\-Growth Consultancy \| Liverpool City Centre

This is Lumen Partners, an ambitious business consultancy and commercial growth organisation based in Liverpool City Centre, we are looking for an experienced Business Development Manager who's ready to take ownership of new business growth and make a genuine commercial impact. This isn't a role where you'll be chasing unqualified leads or working to unrealistic targets, it's a properly structured opportunity for someone who understands the full sales cycle, knows how to build relationships with senior decision makers, and wants to be recognised and rewarded for the revenue they generate.

Liverpool's professional services sector continues to grow, and Lumen Partners is positioning itself at the heart of that expansion. We work with businesses across multiple sectors to drive revenue growth, improve customer acquisition, and deliver long\-term commercial success. This role offers genuine progression into senior commercial or director\-level positions, direct access to leadership, and the autonomy to shape your own pipeline and approach. If you've got a proven track record in B2B sales, consultancy, or strategic business development and you're looking for a role that combines structure with independence, this could be the right next step.

About the Role

As Business Development Manager, you'll be responsible for identifying and securing new business opportunities, managing key client relationships, and contributing directly to Lumen's commercial growth strategy. This isn't purely an account management position, you'll be expected to actively develop new business while nurturing and expanding existing client accounts.

You'll manage the entire sales process from initial prospecting through to negotiation and close, working with business owners, directors, and senior stakeholders. The role requires someone who's comfortable operating independently, managing their own pipeline, and delivering consistent results without needing constant oversight.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute targeted business development strategies aligned with company growth objectives

  • Identify, prospect, and engage new clients through networking, referrals, outreach, meetings, and industry events

  • Conduct market research and competitor analysis to identify commercial opportunities and market trends

  • Prepare detailed proposals, presentations, quotations, and business cases tailored to client needs

  • Maintain accurate CRM records, sales forecasting reports, and pipeline documentation

  • Deliver weekly and monthly pipeline updates and performance reports to senior leadership

  • Collaborate with marketing, operations, and leadership teams to support wider growth initiatives

  • Identify opportunities for upselling, cross\-selling, and account expansion within existing client base

  • Represent Lumen at networking events, business meetings, and industry functions across the Liverpool region

  • Monitor KPIs including conversion rates, pipeline activity, revenue performance, and client retention

  • Contribute strategic ideas and insights to support future market growth and service development

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, presentation, and relationship\-building skills

  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to identify and capitalise on growth opportunities

  • Confident using CRM systems, sales reporting tools, and pipeline management processes

  • Self\-motivated, proactive, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision

  • Professional and consultative approach when engaging with clients and prospects
