Business Development Manager
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Identify, target and secure new business opportunities for air freight, sea freight, road freight and multimodal logistics services to achieve company revenue and growth targets.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with importers, exporters, manufacturers, retailers and commercial clients requiring cargo transportation and freight forwarding services.
- Generate sales leads through networking, market research, customer referrals, industry events and direct business development activities.
- Prepare, present and negotiate freight quotations, service proposals, contracts and pricing agreements in line with company commercial objectives.
- Manage and develop existing customer accounts, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction, retention and repeat business.
- Analyse market trends, competitor activity, customer requirements and international trade developments to identify new commercial opportunities.
- Collaborate with operations, customs clearance, warehousing and transport teams to ensure the successful delivery of freight and logistics solutions for clients.
- Negotiate rates and service agreements with carriers, shipping lines, airlines, transport providers and strategic partners to maximise profitability and service quality.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in Business Management, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Marketing or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years' experience in business development, sales, logistics, freight transport, courier services or account management.
- Proven experience in generating new business opportunities and securing commercial contracts.
- Experience managing key client relationships and delivering revenue growth.
- Understanding of the UK logistics, courier and transport sector.
- Experience preparing commercial proposals, quotations and service agreements.
- Strong knowledge of customer relationship management (CRM) systems and sales reporting.
- Ability to analyse market trends and identify business growth opportunities.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills.
- Full UK driving licence (preferred).
Pay: £56,000\.00\-£57,000\.00 per year
